So, it’s been a while since I uploaded a video outfit of the day. But I thought I should stick to tradition and film what I wore to K-Days this year. Marianas Trench was performing this year so I was super excited. I’ve been wanting to see them live for so long now and it was definitely worth the wait. We were so close to the stage and I even got to hold Josh Ramsay’s hand so that was pretty cool. Pretty darn cool indeed.

Let’s talk about jeans today. When was the last time I wore jeans? Not for a very long time. For the large majority of my life, I have opted for skinny jeans or jeggings. Those are the only two styles I would wear. Sure, they’re great for wearing with boots but they get boring after a while. So now that boyfriend jeans are in style, I couldn’t be more excited. I have been looking for a good pair of boyfriend jeans for a while now. Being relatively short and tiny, I couldn’t wear just any pair of baggy jeans. I needed some tighter ones but still ones that resembled boyfriend jeans. I came across these ones at the beginning of the summer but I decided to keep my options open and pass them up in case I found better ones. Four months later I had not come across a pair I liked better so I picked these ones up from American Eagle. If you don’t have a boyfriend, you can still wear their jeans, ya feel me?
The tee that I paired with these jeans has quickly become one of my favorites. It this loose striped shirt that is made out of the softest material I have ever felt (think Wildfox crossed with Brandy Melville). Its has a high-low silhouette with a large slit on the sides so it’s great for wearing with high waisted bottoms.
If you have been following my monthly fashion wishlists, you would know that I have been on the search for a pair of open-toed booties for the longest time. Even thought the Steve Madden Non-Stop Booties are perfect and gorgeous, I just didn’t want to spend money on a trend that might only last a few more months. I’m so glad I didn’t buy those and bought this more inexpensive option instead because they are not the most comfortable thing at all. But they’re hella cute. Fashion is pain and all.
Speaking of my monthly fashion wishlists, I have also been looking for a silver statement necklace. There’s a story that goes along with this necklace as well. I first saw Kylie Jenner wearing a bunch of layered silver necklaces so that sparked my hunt. Then, I spotted this necklace at H&M but there was only one and it didn’t even have a price tag on it so I didn’t end up buying it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it out of my head and went to look for it again. It was sold out of every H&M in Edmonton. I decided to forget about this necklace… until I went on my roadtrip to Calgary. I stopped in at the H&M in Calgary and low and behold, there was my necklace. So I bought it and now it hangs on my neck, looking wonderful.

So, I’ve come to the conclusion that I need Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to design my future wedding dress. I’m not sure what I was more excited about when I caught a glimpse of these photos; the fact that the Olsen twins, my fashion icons designed this masterpiece, or the absolute beauty of this gown.
Without a doubt, this would be my dream wedding dress. Growing up, I have always been the kind of girl to fantasize about every aspect of her wedding. And for quite a few years now, I’ve been hooked on the idea that I needed an all lace wedding dress. The Olsens captured this idea beautifully. And can we talk about the sleeves for a moment? There’s just something so girly and romantic about loose flowy sleeves. And the scalloped lace neckline? So perfect.
So, umm, Mary-Kate and Ashley? If you’re out there listening, I need you to design me a custom wedding gown as well. Sound good? Perf.

I have once again switched up my foundation. I was using the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation that I once adored but lately, I’ve just been feeling like it is cutting it anymore. So I set out on the hunt for my perfect foundation. And I found it. I have been wanting to try the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation for quite some time. Everyone at work raves about it and I was introduced to it by one of my favorite youtubers, the lovely EssieButton.
I am so happy that I picked up this foundation! It is so amazing. Firstly, it’s consistency is very similar to the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation. I tend to like a more liquid formula. I hate thicker foundations. And because it’s a gel foundation, it’s very thin and smooth. It feels wonderful to apply! Next, the coverage is unbelievable! For being such a thin foundation, it is almost full coverage and is easily build-able to reach a completely full and opaque coverage. And the best part? It doesn’t look cakey at all. I love to blend it out with my Quo sponge (a Beauty Blender dupe). This foundation is perfect for dry skin but I believe it would also work great with oilier skins although it does not have a matte finish. It leaves my skin looking healthy and fresh. Plus, this foundation promises that it lasts a full 16 hours which it definitely does! I don’t find it slipping off my face throughout the day like my Rimmel foundation was.
As for price, I think it is very reasonable priced. It could easily pass as one of the high-end foundations but for $27, it falls more in the middle between drugstore and high-end. Honestly, for the price and the quality, how could you say no? I think I’ve found my perfect foundation. Hooray! No comments
A couple of months ago, I did a post on a sneak peak of the Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner but now, I have the real deal for you!
I can proudly say I like this liner a lot more than at first now that I have been able to experiment with it a bit more. To recap, this liner is a gel liner so it’s a bit thicker, more opaque and more matte than a liquid liner. What’s great about this liner being in pen form instead of the traditional pot is that it doesn’t dry out as fast. It’s all contained so it will last it’s full two month supply. Also, you don’t need to carry around a separate brush. Everything is all together. Another great feature about this liner is it’s lash-hugging capabilities. I found that I can get really close to my lashes and create a super thin line which is always my preference! But if you prefer a thicker line, this liner is great at that too!
As for creating winged liner, this liner excels at that as well. I have never been one for doing wings but I gave it a try. I think it worked pretty well for my first try! Obviously, I still need some practice but I found the angled AccuFlex™ tip to be super helpful at creating the perfect wing!
So all in all, I really do like the new Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner a lot more than when I first tried it out. I’m not sure if it will completely replace my liquid liner but it’s definitely a contender!

I have been on the hunt for a leather vest for quite some time now. After seeing this one at Noul, I knew I needed one in my closet right away, but I was not prepared for the $130 price tag so it became my mission to find one for cheaper. I am sad to admit that my mission was not successful. Every leather vest I found was nowhere near as nice as this Noul one so my heart told me to just splurge and buy it. Yolo right? Uh huh. So now, here it sits in my closet. I’m so glad I decided to buy it. It’s such a staple piece and I believe I’ll be wearing it for many seasons to come. Today, I paired it with one of my favourite dresses: this dropped waist dress from Forever 21. I love the girly and edgy silhouettes paired together. I feel like that is where my style is evolving to.
As always, I spiced my outfit up with my accessories. I am absolutely obsessed with this necklace. I picked it up from Topshop when I was in Calgary on my road trip. Who knew Chinook Centre had a Topshop? It was so beautiful. If you know me, you know I don’t like to buy jewelry anymore because of the abundance of it sitting in my room. But lately, I’ve been noticing my ratio of gold to silver necklace is way off, so I decided I needed this necklace in my life. It’s mainly silver with gold accents so it allows me to effortlessly mixed metals in my outfit. For bracelets today, I kept it simple with this Urban Outfitters bracelet that I seem to be wearing everyday. My brother even noticed as he took these pictures, telling me he’s already taken shots of this bracelet countless times; that sass. I wore my Marc Jacobs watch like always but watch out! (no pun intended) I’ve recently added a new watch to my collection so I’m sure you’ll be seeing that one lots instead now!
When I was putting together this outfit, I came to a roadblock when it was time to pick out shoes. Originally, I though the Steve Madden Nonstop Booties would have looked perfect with this look, but alas, I don’t own those shoes. I’ve heard they are super unpractical and uncomfortable anyways so I don’t know if they’ll ever have a place in my closet. But then I remembered these shoes. I picked these up from The Bay a month ago and I’ve only worn them once. I completely forgot I owned them. However, I really like how they look with this outfit! And can we just talk about my toes for a second? I went for my first pedicure yesterday and it was magical. I got gel polish so hopefully my toes will look this beautiful for the rest of the summer. Speaking of summer, I only have a month and a half of it left. UGH.

I’ve never been on a road trip. Wait, let me specify. I’ve been on roadtrips with my family, just never my friends. Road trips with your family are very different. They are planned, your parents are in charge, they’re just not the same. I didn’t realize how much better going on a road trip with your friends are. In case you didn’t realize either, here’s my story.
Day one: My three friends and I planned to drive the three hours from Edmonton to Calgary to see the stampede. I’m sure you’re all quite familiar with the Calgary Stampede. It’s one of the biggest rodeos in the world so it’s kind of a big deal. We were going to leave early on Tuesday morning, spend the night and then drive back on Wednesday night. Short and sweet right? Wrong. When we first got to Calgary, we went shopping at Cross Iron Mills and then decided we needed to go to the zoo. I love the Calgary Zoo. The lions were my favorite. We then went back to the hotel to get ready for a night of partying. Partying on a tuesday night? That’s how crazy the stampede is. After a few suggestions, we decided to go to the Cowboys tent. This was a crazy bar. Can you even call it a bar? It was basically a gigantic white tent with a stage and bars and food trunks. It was intense. I’m convinced I was the only one not wearing a cowboy hat or boots. After spending a few hours at this crazy bar, we went to explore downtown at around 10 in the evening. We decided on getting a quick bite at Earls. As we ordered out food, our waiter casually said to us “I’m not sure if you care, but Brody Jenner is here.” We did care. If you didn’t know, Brody Jenner is the half brother of the Kardashians but more importantly, he starred alongside Lauren Conrad on the Hills. We were freaking out! So, when he came into the restaurant from the patio, we went up to him to ask for a picture. What happened next made my heart stop. He said “No, f*** off” and then proceeded to walk away. I was speechless until he turned around laughing saying just kidding. He’s a little joker this one. We got our pictures with him and I was a very happy camper. After Earls, we headed back to our hotel. Our hotel had a rooftop hot tub but it closed at 10. We were very sad about missing this but as we snuck up to the roof to see if we could find a way in, we encountered a security guard. Expecting to get in trouble, we started to run away but instead he asked if we wanted to come up. Yes, that’s right. The security guard was encouraging us to break the rules. For those of you who have never been in a hot tub on the roof of a hotel at midnight with stereos blasting, you are seriously missing out.
Day two: We woke up bright and early and enjoyed one of the best breakfasts at the attatched restaurant. We then headed down to the stampede. That was what we came here for after all. The stampede was so amazing. The rides and midway is pretty basic, it’s very similar to any other fair i.e K-Days. However, my friend, Erinn and I got tickets to the rodeo, which was the highlight of my day. To all those cowboys out there, you are truly amazing wow! I’ve decided my life goal is to marry a cowboy. We watched events like bullriding, barrel racing, and steer-wrestling. I’ve never seen anything like it! It’s so much more amazing to watch it live instead of in a movie or on T.V! Now, originally, we had planned to drive back to Edmonton after the stampede, but Erinn and I were enjoying our little road trip way too much so we decided not to stop the fun just yet. We have a friend who lives in Consort. Don’t be worried if you’ve never heard of it, nobody has ever heard of it. It’s a small town with 668 people. That’s right. Six hundred and sixty-eight people. Anyways, Erinn and I have been meaning to visit our friend, Kevin but we’ve never had the chance until now. So we decided to extend our road trip one more day and go surprise Kevin in Consort. The four hour drive to this town was a little bit scary. Not only were we exhausted from spending the whole day out in the hot sun, but a huge storm also decided to hit. So here we were driving at 11 in the pitch black night with the only light coming from the constant lightning across the sky. But, we made it to Consort and drove to my friend’s house where we surprised him. He was extremely surprised. Best surprise ever? I think so.
Day three: I am writing this post a couple hours after I got home from the road trip. This day was definitely the best day out of the three. We woke up early (is 9am early?) to explore the town. To be honest, not much exploring was done. Consort has, like, four streets. It was so neat to finally see Consort. I have heard about it for so long. it’s like reading your favorite book so many times and then seeing it when it is made into a movie. You notice all the little details that seem so familiar because you’ve imagined them all in your head. This day was so wonderful. I’ve never been a huge fan of small towns. I always thought I needed the shopping and crowds of people to be happy. I was wrong. I got to pet cows and horses and climb hay bales- I know, I’ve never even climbed a tree but now I’ve climbed hay bales! We even went on Quads or Four-wheelers. I don’t know what you call them. It was so amazing to be outside and just see emptiness and grass all around you instead of buildings. It was so peaceful and I don’t know if I’ve ever been happier. I’ve come to the conclusion that I belong on a farm. My new life plan is to get my teaching degree and then teach in Consort so I can live that small town life. It would be so nice to escape the city for a few years.
So that was my roadtrip. It was one of the best couple of days I’ve had in a long time. It’s definitely something I’ll remember and hold dear in my memories. Best summer ever? Yes.

For my Make It Yourself Monday this week, I will be teaching you how to make some super cute beaded bobby pins. I love bobby pins and fancy ones are just so much more fun. These bobby pins are easy to make once you get the hang of it! The hardest part of it is starting it, but I have faith in you!
For this bobby pin, I chose a “mixed metal” theme! I used a gold bobby pin, copper wire, and silver beads! Cute, I know.
Step one: Hold the center of the wire over the straight edge of the bobby pin at the top and slide the right side of the wire through the rubber tips of the pin and back over the pin to the right. Then do the same with the left side: take the left side of the wire and slide it through the rubber tips and back over to the left.
Step two: Hold the two ends of the wire together and slide a bead onto both wires. Then wrap each wire through the rubber tips, crossing them to hold the bead in place.
Step three: Repeat step two securing each bead to the bobby pin. I follow a pattern of five metal seed beads followed by a larger metal bead. Make sure to pull the wire tight after each bead!
Step four: When you have reached the end of the bobby pin, poke the wire up through the last bead and wrap the wires around the beads. Snip off any excess wire. Done! That wasn’t so bad, right?
Play around with different combinations of beads and colors! You need some to match every single outfit okay?
It was such a beautiful day today. The sun was shining. The birds were chirping. Nature was all around me. I had to commemorate this wonderful day by wearing shorts. I haven’t reached for shorts much this summer but I just got this new pair from Plndr. They are a black silky material with cream lace. The only problem with these shorts is that the two flaps aren’t sewn together so if the wind blows, the entire flap lifts up… and you can see everything. So I better get out my sewing needles and fix this problem.
I tucked a white tee from Vero Moda into these shorts. I really love this shirt. It’s the perfect fit and everything but it wrinkles so quickly! I sit down and immediately it’s a mess. For jewelry, I wore my silver locket that was my grandma’s. I’m sure you’re noticing I’ve been wearing it a ton but It’s my favorite necklace right now. As you probably know, I’ve been wanting a really chunky statement necklace, but I have yet to find the perfect one so this one has been substituting for the moment. My arm candy hasn’t been changing lately. I’m wearing my Kate Spade bangle that I still adore, my Marc Jacobs Amy watch, and of course, my Pandora bracelet.
The rest of my outfit just includes these two-tone Bloch flats that compliment the black and cream in the outfit perfectly, and my new Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Percy purse.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like a very good shopper. I’m only buying pieces that I really need. Over the years, I have acquired so much clothing so do I really need more? Obviously I’m not going to stop shopping so instead, I’ve just been buying more unique and versatile pieces. Like this skirt. I ordered this skirt online at Simons and had it shipped to the store in West Edmonton Mall. Simons is wonderful. Their customer service is amazing.
This skirt is an acid wash denim skirt. I used to be obsessed with those denim miniskirts in grade seven but I decided I needed a more grown up version. I love it. I went for a very casual look today. I paired it with a slightly cropped top from American Eagle and then tied a chambray shirt around my waist. Originally, I was wearing the chambray shirt over my tee for a ‘denim on denim’ kind of look but it got too hot for that. I think the two different denims look great together!
For jewelry, I am wearing my brand new Kate Spade bangle. I have been looking for the perfect bangle to compliment my Marc Jacobs watch and Pandora bracelet but usually, bangles are way too big for my wrist. My wrists are twigs. However, this bangle has a hinge so it’s quite smaller. It’s beautiful. I got it from the new Kate Spade store in West Edmonton Mall, which was so beautiful, oh my.
I then wore beige sneakers on my feet. It seems like sneakers are my go-to footwear choice in summer. They are just so simple and comfy and go with my casual summer vibe. As for my purse, I am wearing my new Marc Jacobs Classic Q Percy Crossbody in Cement. I am falling more and more in love with it everyday.

- LaVanila Fragrances (buy here)- We just got these in at Shoppers and they all smell delicious! My favorite is the Pure Vanilla perfume but the Vanilla Coconut and Vanilla Grapefruit are lovely too!
- Stila In The Know Palette (buy here)- I have been wanting this palette since I first started working at Shoppers. It’s one of the few palettes that has all matte shadows, actually it’s the only all matte palette that we sell.
- Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (buy here)- I have really been liking this foundation lately. It has the same consistency as the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation but it’s less oily which is nice! And it has surprisingly good coverage for being so lightweight.
- Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder (buy here)- I find that this powder works very nice with the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. It gives some coverage without being cakey. And it’s supposed to last 10 hours which is always nice.
- Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara (buy here)- These mascaras are part of Dior’s new collection and the colors are gorgeous! My favorite are the blue and purple mascaras. They are so vivid and look extra cool when layered with regular black mascara.
- Stila Hair Refresher (buy here)- This is probably the only dry shampoo that I don’t hate. It’s a loose powder, as opposed to an aerosol can and I find that it does it’s job incredibly well. Plus, the two scents smell so good! My favorite is the Creme Bouquet.
- Smashbox Blemish Control Primer (buy here)- I usually can’t stand primers. I find that they just break me out. However this one has salicylic acid in it so it helps treat blemishes while helping your makeup stay on it. How nice!
- Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipgloss (buy here)- These lipglosses are so pretty! They are more like a liquid lipstick in terms of pigmentation. The texture is very nice as well. They go on smoothly without any stickiness and they dry to a matte finish.

For my third Make It Yourself Monday, I’m going to show you one of my favorite hairstyles. I’m sure you’re all sensing a pattern here, as this one is extremely simple and straightforward as well, but it’s so cute! I think it’s boho vibe is perfect for summer and it’s great at keeping your hair out of your face. And the best part? It takes less than 10 minutes to do! (Once you get good at it, it’ll take you less than 5 minutes #pro)
1. Start with straight hair and part it in a middle part. Feel free to try this hairstyle out with curly hair but I personally like the style better when my hair is straight.
2. Next, take one inch sections from just above your ears. Leave out the pieces of hair surrounding your face. Braid these one inch sections but instead of crossing the outside pieces over to form the braid, cross these pieces under. (It is just a backwards braid.) Secure the ends with an elastic.
3. Doing one at a time, lay the braid overtop of your head and bobby pin it just above your ear on the other side.
4. Next, take the front pieces of your hair and bobby pin them back. These pieces of hair are especially helpful in covering any bumps n’ lumps in your braids.
And voila! All done. Finish with a smoothing cream or hairspray and you’re all ready to go!

What do I have to say about my leather shorts? They’re pretty freakin’ cool. I have searched high and low for the perfect pair. It seems like every store has a pair but the problem? I wanted them for less than 20 bucks. I knew I wouldn’t wear leather shorts on a daily basis so they weren’t worth me splurging on. Enter this pair of shorts! I found these on Romwe one day. I am not the biggest fan of Romwe. They are an asian online company with incredibly low prices. However, those low prices usually mean low quality. But these shorts are surprisingly decent and ready for the best part? Drumroll please. They were $10. I know, I’m cheap.
Leather shorts are so versatile! I went for the very casual look today by tucking this distressed cropped tee into them and layering with this plaid jacket that I always seem to forget I own even though it’s almost four years old. For accessories, I went for the mixed metals look. I wore a wooden key necklace, layered with one of my favorite fossil pendant necklace from Presh. On my arm I wore my Marc Jacobs watch with a beaded mixed metal cuff.
Now, let’s talk about my purse. I may or may not have splurged a bit yesterday. No, I definitely did. But in my defence, I have been wanting a Marc Jacobs purse for as long as I can remember. And when I walked into Aritzia on that bright, sunny day and saw this lovely purse swinging in the wind, I just knew I needed it. So I bought it. And it’s beautiful. And perfect. It’s name is Marc.

I used to be sad when it rained, but now when I roll out of bed and see a gloomy day, I squeal with delight. A day of rain means a day of Hunter rubber boots. I couldn’t be happier.
On this fabulous rainy day, I wore one of my favorite sweatshirts. By now, you probably have an idea that I am in love with Marc Jacobs so fittingly, I have his name written all over my shirt. I just love Marc okay? Over top, I layered an army green vest from Vero Moda that has cute leather accents. I feel so tough and intimidating in this y’know? For jeans, I’m wearing a pair of dark snakeskin printed skinnies tucked in my beloved Hunters. My beautiful beloved Hunters.
I didn’t go overboard on my accessories. What a surprise eh? I wore my regular jewelry that consists of my Marc Jacobs watch (to match perfectly with my sweatshirt duh) and my Pandora bracelet. I then wore a baseball cap. How great are hats by the way? I was never really a hat wearer until I had a sudden epiphany that I needed a leather baseball cap. When my search for that failed and I ended up getting this plain black one, I discovered the fabulosity that are hats. I literally just brushed up my hair this morning and threw this hat on and bam! I was ready to go.
