When I'm older...

i'll wear whatever i want. ................................................. “I’ve apparently been the victim of growing up, which apparently happens to all of us at one point or another. It’s been going on for quite some time now, without me knowing it. I’ve found that growing up can mean a lot of things. For me, it doesn’t mean I should become somebody completely new and stop loving the things I used to love. It means I’ve just added more things to my list.” ................................................ Jeremiah 29:11

Face masks make me laugh. Does anyone look cute with a face mask on? The answer is no so let’s not judge my selfie here.

But oh my goodness, I am in love with sheet face masks and these ones from MaskerAide are perfection. I received two different kinds to try, the All Nighter and the Detox Diva. They are both fiber sheet masks soaked in serum that is infused with vitamins and nutrients.

The All Nighter face mask is my saviour. I used this one after a night of partying (it was a looooong night) and I felt so hungover bad when I woke up. After a long night, my face always feels so dry and stiff and just generally gross for a lack of better words. However, I felt like that was the perfect time to try out this mask and I couldn’t have been more right! This mask was incredibly refreshing and the peppermint oil woke me up and de-puffed my tired eyes. I felt like a whole new person after I used this mask, one who gets a full eight hours of sleep instead of partying her worries away.

The Detox Diva is also equally as amazing! I used this one during finals week at university. I had been focusing more on school than my skin and my face was starting to show the stress I was experiencing so I was definitely in need of a face mask. This Detox Diva mask helps to minimize pores and gently exfoliate away dead skin cells. My face felt so much cleaner and healthier after using this mask.

Apart from these two masks, MaskerAide also has a variety of other sheet masks, including the Pre Party Prep mask which is next on my wishlist so go check them out!

For some reason, I always had a negative opinion of this mascara before I even had a chance to try it. This is the Clinique High Lengths Mascara and it’s one of the most unique mascaras on the market.

The brush is unlike any other mascara. It is a long, curved silicone wand with bristles on only one side, almost like a fine toothed comb. I thought this would do absolutely nothing to my lashes but boy, was I wrong. I usually get very annoyed with my eyelashes. They’re naturally very long so I often have trouble with getting them to look orderly and not all tangled and clumped together. But this wand was able to brush out my lashes, like a comb would brush out your hair. It separates each eye lash while adding noticeable length and definition. Plus, I find it gives a nice curl to my eyelashes which is always a bonus because I don’t physically curl them with an eyelash curler.

Even though the wand is what makes this mascara so cool, the formula is also super awesome too. It’s a great true black color that doesn’t flake throughout the day. But because it’s not waterproof, it comes off easily at night with makeup remover. I can’t stand mascaras that are hard to remove.

The only problem I experienced with this mascara was the lack of volume it contributes to my lashes. It’s great at adding length and definition but if you are looking for volume, this won’t do it for you. However, I’ve been using this as a layering mascara. I apply a coat of this first and then use my Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara (review here) overtop which adds lots of volume! If I experience any clumps, I’ll run this wand through my lashes once more to separate the lashes. And voila! Perfect Lashes!

I have been waiting for the first sight of sunshine and warm weather to begin wearing all my sunglasses again after this dreadfully long winter.

These sunglasses are from Firmoo.com, one of my favorite sunglass and eyewear websites. I’ve also reviewed a pair of regular eyeglasses from Firmoo so check that out as well when you have a chance here.

I’ve been looking for a simple pair of sunglasses and these ones fit the bill perfectly. They’re a tortoiseshell with dark lenses. My favorite part about them is the size. I have a pretty small face so I always have trouble finding sunglasses that aren’t going to slide off or make me look like I’m playing dress-up with my mommy’s sunglasses. I think these ones suit my face shape fairly well!

I know it can be a bit tricky to guess if a pair of glasses will suit your face or not, so to eliminate that, Firmoo has a great virtual try-on system in which you can upload a picture of your face or use a model’s face to see what the glasses look like on your face! Also, if you’re still not convinced that these are the glasses for you, you can try out the First Pair Free Program. This program allows you to pick out a pair of eyeglasses entirely for free! How could you say no to that?!

With my new shorter hair, I have been gravitating more towards an edgy style. My lace and florals are slowly fading away. I’m sure they will return when my hair gets long again, but for now, let’s have some fun with my new look.

I started out with this great tee from Elizabeth & Clarke. I have talked about them before (check out my previous outfit) but long story short, they are a subscription service that sends one to three high quality shirts a season depending on which box you select. I am in love with this company! All of their shirts have such a nice fit and they are a perfect compliment to my growing closet. This t shirt is very basic but it is the perfect layering piece! It is incredibly soft, with a wide boatneck and a flattering fit. Every girl needs a shirt like this! I paired it with my favorite faux leather jacket and tied a flannel around my waist. I’ve been loving that trend lately. i feel like it makes it so easy to bring more color into your outfit. For bottoms, I’m wearing a pair of leggings from Chicnova that have faux leather panels down the side and my high-top converse.

So, I guess you could say I have the best friends in the world. A whole bunch of my friends got together and bought me the most gorgeous wallet in the whole world. Um hello Marc, how are ya doing.

This is called the Classic Q Wingman Wristlet Wallet and it’s basically perfect. I have been needing a new wallet for quite some time. If you can remember, I used to have an obnoxious metallic silver Coach wallet and it was super ratchet. This one is definitely a lot prettier. Like look at it! And a whole lot more practical too! It’s very smartly designed. It has 5 card slots, 2 slit pockets for bills and receipts, a zippered compartment for change, and my favorite part, a pocket for your phone. It’s the perfect university wallet. When I go grab a bite to eat on campus and I don’t want to bring my whole backpack with me, I can just slip my wallet over my wrist with the attached strap and carry my phone inside it too! Handsfree walking! Perf.

Plus, it’s absolutely gorgeous and I still drool every time I look at it. Marc Jacobs, will you marry me? Kay thanx bae.

So, for my birthday, my lovely friends, Emily and Heather (Thanks guys <3) got me the Lancome Baume in Love in the shade, Urban Ballet. I have been lusting over it for the longest time and it is the most amazing lip product ever.

First, let’s talk about the packaging. The whole Spring collection has the cutest packing, it’s all pink and girly and perfect!

Secondly, the texture of this is amazing. I guess this could be considered a tinted lip balm but it is really so much more than that. It is a super sheer hot pink but it almost changes to a brighter pink on your lips throughout the day. Two of my best friends bought this product as well and it looks absolutely amazing on their lips as well, it’s so universal! It is also super moisturizing and I love how glossy it applies.

There is not one thing I would want to change about this product. It is the prettiest lip balm/lip color that I own! I believe this is a limited edition product so pick it up while you still can!

Find it at Shopper’s Drug Mart or here

I came across this place on a whim. For those of you who are familiar with Edmonton, this is at the Royal Alberta Museum. This gazebo is so pretty and when I went to explore it, i found a heart outlined with rose petals. How cute is that? I have a feeling someone did this for Valentine’s Day. Why are some people so romantic? Ugh. One thing about looking for cool places around Edmonton to take pictures is that I’m starting to realize Edmonton isn’t as boring and ugly as I thought. It’s actually kinda pretty!

Now on to my outfit. I dug this sweater out of my closet. I haven’t worn it for a couple of years now but I think it complimented my cheetah printed shirt nicely. This is one of my favorite shirts. I picked it up at Urban (not Urban Outfitters, it’s a local store in Edmonton and Calgary) on sale for only 10 dollars. As always, I’m wearing my American Eagle jeggings. It’s kinda embarrassing how often I wear these, but they’re just so worn in and comfy. As for shoes, I opted to pull in some color from the cheetahs on my shirt with these mustard booties. Fun fact: my best friend, Ali, used to make fun of me for wearing these boots like six years ago, but I still really like them so HA.

As for accessories, I wearing this new necklace that I just got from Accessory Mercado. It is so freaking cute. It is a shorter necklace, with a rose gold horseshoe and a white triangle quartz stone. It’s very simple but it’s also big enough to make a statement. I love the design! I’m also wearing a rose gold watch and my Marc by Marc Jacobs wristlet wallet (blog post to come).

Now that the first day of spring has come and gone, it’s time to put away the dark, gothic nail colors and pull out the pastels. The new collection from SquareHue has the perfect colors for spring.

SquareHue is a monthly subscription service that delivers three nail polishes a month for only $14.99. That’s only $5 a bottle! This month’s theme is from the Passport Collection and is Paris. These three colors are absolutely gorgeous. The first color, Arc de Triomphe is a nude rose color with a hint of pink shimmer. The next color is called Champs Elysées and I know that this is going to be one of my most-worn polishes this season! It’s the perfect pastel green. It reminds me of Easter and grass and happiness. The last color is called Notre Dame and is a glossy cream. I think a cream nail polish should be a basic in anyone’s collection but for some mysterious reason, I didn’t have one before this.

Overall, I was extremely pleased with this box. The nail polishes are high quality, they didn’t chip and they went on streak-free. I love that the colors were specifically chosen for the season and I think the whole collection is stunning!

And, as if it couldn’t get any better, SquareHue donates a portion of your subscription to help other organizations. So. not only will you have the best lookin’ nails around town, but you will also be a charitable person. Win-win situation? I think so.

You have no idea how happy I was to wear only a sweater outside today. Even though there is still that bright white snow on the ground, the weather has been considerably warmer lately. But isn’t that what you would expect when it is now officially Spring?

I went for a very preppy look today. I feel like I should be going to a country club or playing some golf. Those are preppy activities right?

For my outfit today, I am wearing one of my favorite sweaters that is surprisingly from Old Navy. It has a bright pink fox on it and I think it is absolutely adorable. I layered a cream blouse underneath it to dress it up and make it look extra classy. I have been looking for the perfect blouse for forever and I finally found one from Elizabeth and Clarke. Elizabeth and Clarke is such a cool concept. Each season, they send you a box with a couple of gorgeous shirts like this one for a fee ($20 to $30/shirt). I love this blouse. It is made of a beautiful Crepe de Chine fabric and you can tell that it is great quality!

As for the rest of my outfit, I wore a pair of blue jeggings, and of course my black Hunters. You can’t not wear Hunters when the snow is melting! My crystal necklace is from Accessory Mercado and I think it adds the perfect sparkle to this outfit. As you can tell, the sun was brightly shining today, so I added a pair of sunglasses that I have been waiting to wear all winter.
