When I'm older...

i'll wear whatever i want. ................................................. “I’ve apparently been the victim of growing up, which apparently happens to all of us at one point or another. It’s been going on for quite some time now, without me knowing it. I’ve found that growing up can mean a lot of things. For me, it doesn’t mean I should become somebody completely new and stop loving the things I used to love. It means I’ve just added more things to my list.” ................................................ Jeremiah 29:11

I have countless bottles of nail polish (we’re talking 180+ bottles) so I’m always searching for ways to use them other than just for my nails because let’s face it, I will never use them all up. Combine them with my love of hair accessories and we’ve found a winner.

I always see pretty metallic and colorful bobby pins at places like Anthropologie but $18 for four bobby pins? That’s not so pretty. Then, I got to thinking, why not just make my own? Brilliant right?

  1. Start with grabbing some scrap paper.
  2. Clip the bobby pins on to the edge of the paper so they lie flat.
  3. Select the prettiest polish you can find and begin to paint the bobby pin.
  4. Use some q-tips to clean around the edges so the nail polish doesn’t pool up.
  5. Apply three coats. It takes a few coats to become opaque! It helps if you use lighter colored bobby pins.
  6. Wait for them to dry and then repeat on the other side.
  7. And voila! You’ve got yourself some good lookin bobby pins.

If you had of asked me a week ago if I would ever cut my hair short, I would have said no. So what changed in just a week? I’m not really sure but one day, I woke up and decided I needed a change. It was definitely a spontaneous decision. I haven’t regretted it yet so that’s good! I’ve had long hair for my whole life and as everyone says, it was my security blanket. I felt like I was known for my long hair and I was very tired with it. So, I chopped it off. I know this isn’t really considered “short hair” but it’s definitely the shortest hair I’ve ever had!

As you probably guessed, my inspiration for this haircut was Kylie Jenner. Check out her instagram if you are unaware of what her hair looks like. She rocks the short hair so I figured I could too. I was so nervous going in for my haircut. I was once again switching hair salons as I hadn’t found a keeper yet so I was taking a huge risk. I went to Ponytails and Horseshoes here in Edmonton and I am pleased to say I loved my hairstylist! Her name is Elizabeth and she completely captured my vision, yay Elizabeth! I showed her pictures of Kylie Jenner and then asked for blunt ends, framing around the face and a more messy, relaxed style. I wasn’t originally going to go this short. I wanted it maybe an inch longer but she convinced me this would be a nice transformation. I totally agree don’t you?

How I curl my hair!

Products used (In order of appearance):

-Remington Curling Wand (buy here)

-Got2b Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm (buy here)

-Aussie Mega Hairspray (buy here)

-Got2b Smooth Operator Hairspray (buy here)

-Sebastian Re-Shaper Hairspray (buy here)

Why do I use so many different types of hairspray? I hate having crunchy hair but I also hate my curls falling out. This particular hairstyle was for New Year’s Eve so I went a bit overboard in ensuring that my hairstyle would hold for the entire night. The Sebastian Hairspray gives the most hold so I used that on the ends. The Got2b hairspray was used on the roots to hold the teasing and smooth flyaways. The Aussie Hairspray was used all over. Hope you enjoyed!

Holiday Hair Tutorial Whoot!

This is probably the most easiest hairstyle ever which I guess is why I wear it 6 days out of the week. (Maybe I’m exaggerating but still.) I feel like this hairstyle is especially cute for the holidays. I’m pretty sure this is how I wore my hair last New Year’s Eve, what a coincidence!

So I first started with curling my hair in extremely loose curls. I used my Remington Pearl Curling Wand. This is the 1/2-1 inch size but the curls would turn out better with a larger wand. I just allowed my curls to fall out of their tight ringlets. I curled 1 and 2 inch sections away from my face. After that I just pinned back the front pieces of my hair with a black leather bow from Forever 21.

Normally, I would just leave my hair like this but I just got this adorable new headband from Dauphines of New York. It is so sparkly and perfect for holiday parties and especially New Year’s Eve. I really love this headband because it has an adjustable back so it can truly fit any size head. You don’t have to worry about it being too tight and uncomfortable or being too big and falling out. Most of my other headbands are just elastic which is super annoying. This one is great! Also, not only does this headband look super pretty in your hair, but it can also be worn as a necklace! What a great deal for both a necklace and a headband! Go check out Dauphines for many other pretty hair accessories! They are truly jewelry for your hair!

Anatomicals may just be the sassiest company on the market right now. And I am definitely the most sassiest person so it’s only right that I use their products. They are a European skincare and body company that strives to cleanse, pamper and fragrance your body in the best way possible.

Never Lose Your Cherry spf 15 lip balm: This lip balm has more of a lip gloss texture than a traditional creamy lip balm formula. Nonetheless, it is surprisingly moisturizing and has a fruity cherry scent. Normally, I stray away from cherry scents, but this one is more natural than artificial so I can handle it.

None of Your Foul Mouth mints: These mints are adorable. They come in a cute compact green tin that is great for throwing in your purse. The mints are sugar free and spearmint flavoured.

Oi! You Throbhead headache relief balm: I love this balm! I get headaches quite regularly so this has come in handy many times. All you have to do is rub this balm on your temples and the soothing ingredients immediately get to work on vanishing that headache!

Zap! Gets That Chap day and night spot stick: This is such a cool blemish gel. This spot stick is double ended, with one side containing a clear day gel and the other side containing a thicker night spot cream.

That’s When I Fell for the Leader of the (Hair) Pack: I love this hair mask. I love treating my hair to various treatments and this one is especially great for leaving my hair frizz free with the help of the Jojoba seed oil.

Face Masks: The Anatomicals face mask set contains 3 individual face masks. The first is a mattifying face mask that is perfect for oilier skin and will rid your skin of excess oils. The next is an anti-stress mask that smells like chocolate and will leave your skin calm, relaxed, and radiant. The last is the deep cleansing mud mask that contains special minerals to absorb excess oil, deeply embedded dirt, and makeup. This will help control blemishes and blackheads as it tones and tightens the skin.
