When I'm older...

i'll wear whatever i want. ................................................. “I’ve apparently been the victim of growing up, which apparently happens to all of us at one point or another. It’s been going on for quite some time now, without me knowing it. I’ve found that growing up can mean a lot of things. For me, it doesn’t mean I should become somebody completely new and stop loving the things I used to love. It means I’ve just added more things to my list.” ................................................ Jeremiah 29:11

Let’s talk about jeans today. When was the last time I wore jeans? Not for a very long time. For the large majority of my life, I have opted for skinny jeans or jeggings. Those are the only two styles I would wear. Sure, they’re great for wearing with boots but they get boring after a while. So now that boyfriend jeans are in style, I couldn’t be more excited. I have been looking for a good pair of boyfriend jeans for a while now. Being relatively short and tiny, I couldn’t wear just any pair of baggy jeans. I needed some tighter ones but still ones that resembled boyfriend jeans. I came across these ones at the beginning of the summer but I decided to keep my options open and pass them up in case I found better ones. Four months later I had not come across a pair I liked better so I picked these ones up from American Eagle. If you don’t have a boyfriend, you can still wear their jeans, ya feel me?

The tee that I paired with these jeans has quickly become one of my favorites. It this loose striped shirt that is made out of the softest material I have ever felt (think Wildfox crossed with Brandy Melville). Its has a high-low silhouette with a large slit on the sides so it’s great for wearing with high waisted bottoms.

If you have been following my monthly fashion wishlists, you would know that I have been on the search for a pair of open-toed booties for the longest time. Even thought the Steve Madden Non-Stop Booties are perfect and gorgeous, I just didn’t want to spend money on a trend that might only last a few more months. I’m so glad I didn’t buy those and bought this more inexpensive option instead because they are not the most comfortable thing at all. But they’re hella cute. Fashion is pain and all.

Speaking of my monthly fashion wishlists, I have also been looking for a silver statement necklace. There’s a story that goes along with this necklace as well. I first saw Kylie Jenner wearing a bunch of layered silver necklaces so that sparked my hunt. Then, I spotted this necklace at H&M but there was only one and it didn’t even have a price tag on it so I didn’t end up buying it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it out of my head and went to look for it again. It was sold out of every H&M in Edmonton. I decided to forget about this necklace… until I went on my roadtrip to Calgary. I stopped in at the H&M in Calgary and low and behold, there was my necklace. So I bought it and now it hangs on my neck, looking wonderful.

I have been on the hunt for a leather vest for quite some time now. After seeing this one at Noul, I knew I needed one in my closet right away, but I was not prepared for the $130 price tag so it became my mission to find one for cheaper. I am sad to admit that my mission was not successful. Every leather vest I found was nowhere near as nice as this Noul one so my heart told me to just splurge and buy it. Yolo right? Uh huh. So now, here it sits in my closet. I’m so glad I decided to buy it. It’s such a staple piece and I believe I’ll be wearing it for many seasons to come. Today, I paired it with one of my favourite dresses: this dropped waist dress from Forever 21. I love the girly and edgy silhouettes paired together. I feel like that is where my style is evolving to.

As always, I spiced my outfit up with my accessories. I am absolutely obsessed with this necklace. I picked it up from Topshop when I was in Calgary on my road trip. Who knew Chinook Centre had a Topshop? It was so beautiful. If you know me, you know I don’t like to buy jewelry anymore because of the abundance of it sitting in my room. But lately, I’ve been noticing my ratio of gold to silver necklace is way off, so I decided I needed this necklace in my life. It’s mainly silver with gold accents so it allows me to effortlessly mixed metals in my outfit. For bracelets today, I kept it simple with this Urban Outfitters bracelet that I seem to be wearing everyday. My brother even noticed as he took these pictures, telling me he’s already taken shots of this bracelet countless times; that sass. I wore my Marc Jacobs watch like always but watch out! (no pun intended) I’ve recently added a new watch to my collection so I’m sure you’ll be seeing that one lots instead now!

When I was putting together this outfit, I came to a roadblock when it was time to pick out shoes. Originally, I though the Steve Madden Nonstop Booties would have looked perfect with this look, but alas, I don’t own those shoes. I’ve heard they are super unpractical and uncomfortable anyways so I don’t know if they’ll ever have a place in my closet. But then I remembered these shoes. I picked these up from The Bay a month ago and I’ve only worn them once. I completely forgot I owned them. However, I really like how they look with this outfit! And can we just talk about my toes for a second? I went for my first pedicure yesterday and it was magical. I got gel polish so hopefully my toes will look this beautiful for the rest of the summer. Speaking of summer, I only have a month and a half of it left. UGH.

It was such a beautiful day today. The sun was shining. The birds were chirping. Nature was all around me. I had to commemorate this wonderful day by wearing shorts. I haven’t reached for shorts much this summer but I just got this new pair from Plndr. They are a black silky material with cream lace. The only problem with these shorts is that the two flaps aren’t sewn together so if the wind blows, the entire flap lifts up… and you can see everything. So I better get out my sewing needles and fix this problem.

I tucked a white tee from Vero Moda into these shorts. I really love this shirt. It’s the perfect fit and everything but it wrinkles so quickly! I sit down and immediately it’s a mess. For jewelry, I wore my silver locket that was my grandma’s. I’m sure you’re noticing I’ve been wearing it a ton but It’s my favorite necklace right now. As you probably know, I’ve been wanting a really chunky statement necklace, but I have yet to find the perfect one so this one has been substituting for the moment. My arm candy hasn’t been changing lately. I’m wearing my Kate Spade bangle that I still adore, my Marc Jacobs Amy watch, and of course, my Pandora bracelet.

The rest of my outfit just includes these two-tone Bloch flats that compliment the black and cream in the outfit perfectly, and my new Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Percy purse.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like a very good shopper. I’m only buying pieces that I really need. Over the years, I have acquired so much clothing so do I really need more? Obviously I’m not going to stop shopping so instead, I’ve just been buying more unique and versatile pieces. Like this skirt. I ordered this skirt online at Simons and had it shipped to the store in West Edmonton Mall. Simons is wonderful. Their customer service is amazing.

This skirt is an acid wash denim skirt. I used to be obsessed with those denim miniskirts in grade seven but I decided I needed a more grown up version. I love it. I went for a very casual look today. I paired it with a slightly cropped top from American Eagle and then tied a chambray shirt around my waist. Originally, I was wearing the chambray shirt over my tee for a ‘denim on denim’ kind of look but it got too hot for that. I think the two different denims look great together!

For jewelry, I am wearing my brand new Kate Spade bangle. I have been looking for the perfect bangle to compliment my Marc Jacobs watch and Pandora bracelet but usually, bangles are way too big for my wrist. My wrists are twigs. However, this bangle has a hinge so it’s quite smaller. It’s beautiful. I got it from the new Kate Spade store in West Edmonton Mall, which was so beautiful, oh my.

I then wore beige sneakers on my feet. It seems like sneakers are my go-to footwear choice in summer. They are just so simple and comfy and go with my casual summer vibe. As for my purse, I am wearing my new Marc Jacobs Classic Q Percy Crossbody in Cement. I am falling more and more in love with it everyday.

What do I have to say about my leather shorts? They’re pretty freakin’ cool. I have searched high and low for the perfect pair. It seems like every store has a pair but the problem? I wanted them for less than 20 bucks. I knew I wouldn’t wear leather shorts on a daily basis so they weren’t worth me splurging on. Enter this pair of shorts! I found these on Romwe one day. I am not the biggest fan of Romwe. They are an asian online company with incredibly low prices. However, those low prices usually mean low quality. But these shorts are surprisingly decent and ready for the best part? Drumroll please. They were $10. I know, I’m cheap.

Leather shorts are so versatile! I went for the very casual look today by tucking this distressed cropped tee into them and layering with this plaid jacket that I always seem to forget I own even though it’s almost four years old. For accessories, I went for the mixed metals look. I wore a wooden key necklace, layered with one of my favorite fossil pendant necklace from Presh. On my arm I wore my Marc Jacobs watch with a beaded mixed metal cuff.

Now, let’s talk about my purse. I may or may not have splurged a bit yesterday. No, I definitely did. But in my defence, I have been wanting a Marc Jacobs purse for as long as I can remember. And when I walked into Aritzia on that bright, sunny day and saw this lovely purse swinging in the wind, I just knew I needed it. So I bought it. And it’s beautiful. And perfect. It’s name is Marc.

I used to be sad when it rained, but now when I roll out of bed and see a gloomy day, I squeal with delight. A day of rain means a day of Hunter rubber boots. I couldn’t be happier.

On this fabulous rainy day, I wore one of my favorite sweatshirts. By now, you probably have an idea that I am in love with Marc Jacobs so fittingly, I have his name written all over my shirt. I just love Marc okay? Over top, I layered an army green vest from Vero Moda that has cute leather accents. I feel so tough and intimidating in this y’know? For jeans, I’m wearing a pair of dark snakeskin printed skinnies tucked in my beloved Hunters. My beautiful beloved Hunters.

I didn’t go overboard on my accessories. What a surprise eh? I wore my regular jewelry that consists of my Marc Jacobs watch (to match perfectly with my sweatshirt duh) and my Pandora bracelet. I then wore a baseball cap. How great are hats by the way? I was never really a hat wearer until I had a sudden epiphany that I needed a leather baseball cap. When my search for that failed and I ended up getting this plain black one, I discovered the fabulosity that are hats. I literally just brushed up my hair this morning and threw this hat on and bam! I was ready to go.

I have been on the search for the perfect chambray dress for as long as I can remember. Six year old me was probably looking for one. Let’s be honest, I was one stylish toddler. Originally I wanted a denim shirt dress with a collar and buttons and everything (which I’m still on the hunt for), but I came across this one at H&M and it was love at first sight. It’s part of the Eco Conscious collection so it’s made out of a really cool material called lyocell; it’s like denim but better. It’s a pretty simple silhouette with cute added details like pockets and an exposed gold zipper on the back. Best part? I got this dress on sale for a decent 20 bucks, far from it’s regular price of $50. Good on ya H&M!

I paired this dress with a lace cardigan. I wear this so much in the summer because it’s so lightweight and instantly dresses up any outfit. For shoes, I chose these snakeskin sandals that I’ve been dying to pull out after this long horrible winter. I always pair this Celine-lookalike purse with the sandals because I think they compliment each other perfectly. For jewelry, I wore all gold pieces, which I dot usually do. I just like silver jewelry better. However the gold fits in much better with the warmer shades. I love the look of a gold chain choker with a higher neckline. For bracelets, I’m wearing a cool fish cuff with my J.Crew bracelets that even though I love, I never seem to wear.

On a finishing note, let’s applaud my mama’s flowers. Her lilacs are in bloom and I wish you all could smell them through the screen. Their scent is filling up my room right now. I just love summer.

These pants resemble and feel like pyjama pants. And I’m totally okay with that.

I have this personal opposition towards wearing jeans in the summer so this leads me to find other options in the warmer months. Sure, there are plenty of shorts and skirts to wear but I wanted a cool pair of pants. And boy, did I find them.

My pants are from Urban. Not to be mistaken with Urban Outfitters. Urban is a local store, situated in Edmonton and Calgary. The Edmonton location is in City Centre. It is such a great store. Over the years, I have been falling in love with it more and more. They always have the most unique pieces from some of my favorite brands, including Gentle Fawn and Vero Moda. Anyways, back to the outfit.

These pants are so freaking comfy! They are very lightweight and breezy and I love them. A lot. I paired them pants with a loose white tee that I knotted, since the pants are a bit more high waisted. I added in pops of color through my turquoise sandals and my matching turquoise skull bracelet. The rest of my jewelry, including my Marc Jacobs watch and Coach purse was kept silver.

It doesn’t make my body feel like it’s going to fall apart, yet I still break a sweat and feel like I’m actually do something worthwhile for my health.

With me being the lil’ fashionista that y’all know I am, I like to do yoga in ultimate style. That includes a coordinating outfit, yoga mat, and water bottle. I really like the color purple, can’t you tell? But I also need to feel my best when stretching out into uncomfortable positions, even when it’s that time of the month ahem. To help me out with that, I find the Playtex Sport Fresh Balance tampons are my best friend in controlling everything down there. It’s important to stay active even when you have your period. Plus, exercising can help to reduce those lovely cramps that really aren’t so lovely.

I went to the Farmer’s Market downtown today and it was so cute! I love doing more local things in Edmonton and the market was tons of fun. (And really yummy too oh my)

I am obsessed with this dress. I have been searching for a really simple t shirt dress and I love the look of dropped hems so when I saw this dress at my Forever 21, I was so excited! I hate shopping at Forever 21. It’s just so unorganized and overwhelming so I was really surprised that I actually found something! Believe it or not, my sheer kimono is also from Forever 21. I haven’t bought anything from Forever 21 in so long, so that fact that I’m wearing it head to toe is quite surprising.

My sneakers added the perfect casual vibe to this outfit. Sneakers are an absolute must for me in the summer, but you definitely won’t see me sporing athletic-looking ones. These ones are so cute with the leather shell! For jewelry, I’m wearing a chunky layered necklace from Urban Outfitters. On my wrist, I have my regular Marc Jacobs watch and Pandora bracelet plus a new addition! I got this simple string bracelet at the Fault in Our Stars preshow! How cute is it?! And how cute was that movie?! Oh my Augustus.

We’ve been having such nice weather here in Edmonton lately but today was just terrible. It was rainy and windy and cloudy. So, I had to put away my skirts and dresses and pull out my booties. Not that I minded, because my outfit is hella cute today.

These pants might be one of my favorite things I have ever bought. They are snakeskin pants with leather accents on the pockets from Zara. They’re surprisingly versatile! I paired them with this simple long tunic from Below the Belt and a leather jacket. For shoes, I wore my green suede booties from Target. I don’t know about you, but I was so surprised to see that Target actually has some super cute clothing and it’s cheap too! My boots were on clearance for $11. How can I say no? I can’t.

For accessories, I layered on a scarf from Noul and a necklace from Presh. I carried a black leather oversized clutch and voila! My outfit is complete.

I can’t believe that just a couple of years ago, I was too scared to wear maxi skirts out of the house. They weren’t nearly as popular and little sixteen year old me was not daring enough to start the trend. Now, fast forward almost three years later and they have become my summer staple. This one, from Forever 21, is so light and breezy and matches everything in my closet. It’s such a basic.

I paired it with this silky top from American Eagle. I love the crochet detailing on the sleeves. It gives it such a pretty boho look. My shoes doubled as a pop of color in this outfit with their fun turquoise hue.

For jewelry, I wore a Jewelmint necklace that features a silver tassel pendant. I have been so obsessed with this necklace lately. It seems to call to me every time I’ve been deciding what necklace to wear. I apologize to my other necklaces for playing favorites. For my arm de la jour (that’s french for of the day btw), I wore my Marc Jacobs Amy watch, and a couple of cool bracelets from Urban Outfitters including this funky beaded one that I recently got on sale for only three dollars. Everyone knows I love a good deal.

I can’t even begin to tell you how viciously I was attacked by mosquitoes while trying to photograph this outfit. But I guess mosquitoes are the sign that summer is here to stay so that’s good I guess. If anyone knows of a good bug spray, shoot me a message. I’m not even kidding.

Today, I tried to mixed patterns in my outfit. Adventurous I know. My shirt is from my favorite store ever, Noul. They finally have an online store so you should all check it out. It’s fab. Back to the shirt. It’s cream with cool snakeskin sleeves. I then tucked it into a really comfy striped cotton skirt. For shoes, I went with my metallic T-strap sandals. I swear I overwear these sandals way too much but they go with absolutely everything.

Because there was so much cream and taupe in this outfit, I added a colorful statement necklace to balance everything out. I also carried this adorable clutch with leather accents. Clutches are so nice in the summer because they’re so tiny and lightweight. All I need is my wallet and lip balm y’know? And Afterbite too of course. Can’t forget that.

My mama commented that my outfit was rather fancy today. But I would have to disagree. I think the t-shirt dresses it down quite a bit and skirts are essential for summer okay? Skirts are not just reserved for dressier occasions. Got it?

Being a teenager living in the boring city of Edmonton, I rarely get the chance to dress up so sometimes it’s fun just to put on a fancy skirt and enjoy the sunny weather.

This skirt is from Bel and Beau, which is also a lovely blog run by the gorgeous Isobel. I chose the “Miss” Mini Skirt in the emerald color. It is made out of taffeta, resulting in a very gorgeous, voluminous silhouette. It is such a beautiful skirt and is available in both differing lengths and colors. On top, I wore one of my favorite blouses from Elizabeth and Clarke. It is a sleeveless style, making it comfortable for summer and also making it very easy to dress up or down.

As for accessories, I kept it similar with a mint necklace that contrasted nicely with the emerald and black, a couple of bracelets, and of course my monogrammed clutch, I feel very southern with the preppy skirt and the monograms! For shoes, I wore my beloved Bloch flats.

I feel like my sunglasses complete this dressed-up look perfectly! They are inspired by the iconic Prada sunglasses that are to die for! They have huge tortoiseshell round lenses with the focus being on the sides which have a gorgeous swirled design.

I feel like a little kid playing dress-up. It’s a good day.

I have waited all year to finally start wearing sunglasses again. Sunglasses are the perfect summer accessory and I have really missed wearing them. The pair that I chose today are these Floral Aviators from Sunglass Warehouse. I used to be intimidated by mirrored sunglasses but I think the floral detail on the sides of these add a more girly touch. It downplays the intensity of the mirrors. This style also comes in gold with gold mirrored lenses.

I love all the sunglasses over at Sunglass Warehouse. They all have very affordable prices which is essential because I tend to lose my sunglasses or get them scratched within a week. I usually only like to splurge on one pair and then have a bunch of backup pairs that are used for everyday adventures.
