When I'm older...

i'll wear whatever i want. ................................................. “I’ve apparently been the victim of growing up, which apparently happens to all of us at one point or another. It’s been going on for quite some time now, without me knowing it. I’ve found that growing up can mean a lot of things. For me, it doesn’t mean I should become somebody completely new and stop loving the things I used to love. It means I’ve just added more things to my list.” ................................................ Jeremiah 29:11

Who says you can’t wear skirts on the coldest days of the year? This is the perfect winter skirt. It’s a red velvet skirt from Banggood and it’s been such a great addition to my closet. Most people would call me crazy for wearing a skirt in the middle of a Canadian winter but I just couldn’t resist wearing this skirt.

I feel like I was pretty sensible in the rest of my outfit. I paired it with thick fleece lined tights. Fun fact: I got these tights from Ardene and I know Ardene isn’t exactly known for good quality items but I couldn’t have been more impressed with these tights. They are so cozy and warm and the best part, they are five for 10 dollars. What?! Yes, you heard right. I also had a coupon for an extra 15% off so I got this pair for $1.70. How can you pass this up?

Anyways, back to the outfit. I wore a slouchy knit sweater on top from Billabong. I’m sure you’ve noticed but I wear this sweater with practically every outfit. It’s probably my most worn item.

As for shoes, I recently got these booties from Target. I’ve never really shopped at Target but I fell in love with these shoes and they were on clearance. Yes, I just can’t resist a good sale, it’s a problem.

As usual, I added a bunch of jewelry to spice up my outfit. Have I ever left the house without jewelry on? Nope, I don’t think so. I wore this gorgeous necklace from Presh by Nicole Apostoli. I will be doing a whole review on Presh later on, but for now, I just couldn’t resist including this necklace in this outfit. It is called the Fossel Pendant and I love how it ties together the whole outfit with it’s multi-metal duo chains. It’s stunning.

Last but not least, I added on a multitude of rings. What can I say? I like rings. My favorite is this talon-like claw ring from Loft 82- they changed their name to Noul… I don’t know how I feel about that. The chain ring is also from Noul and the cross is from Forever 21.

I like to think flannels are the best invention ever designed. I guess they’re not really inventions, but what I’m sure of is that they’re perfect in every way imaginable. And this flannel from Living Doll LA is no exception. I feel like this flannel was made for me. It combines the traditional comfort of a flannel but also adds a little extra girlyness to my style with the rhinestones on the tips of the collar and pockets. How adorable is that?! Plus the style is a bit more fitted so it can easily be dressed up a bit more than a regular oversized flannel. I also love the colours in this flannel. It is a plaid with red, blue and green so it’s a great festive piece for the holidays but is also easily transitioned into January, February, and March aka winter.

I opted to style this flannel in a more funky, quirky way. I tucked it into my leather skirt (which is surprisingly such a versatile piece by the way) and added a pair of grey tights for warmth because it’s clearly not the season for bare legs yet. To accessorize, I added a fun statement necklace that peaks out from my collar and thew on a few of my favourite rings. Then to also highlight a more edgy style, I added my new beanie from Zara (it’s actually from the kids section oops) and my spiky combat boots. I really like how this outfit turned out. It’s not my usual style but I like how comfy I was but also how fun this outfit is.

Be sure to check out Living Doll LA for more cute clothes (I know they have a cute more flannels in stock, just sayin’). I also did a post with a gorgeous red velvet dress so check that out as well! http://when-im-older.com/post/71646446049
