I haven’t tried a‘drugstore’ mascara in the longest time. Working at Shoppers Drug Mart, I got into the habit of using more high end mascaras. Dior, Lancome and Guerlain quickly became my favorite mascaras. I forgot all about the other mascaras that I religiously used in my younger years, like Covergirl, Maybelline and L’oreal. So, when I finished up my beloved Guerlain Cils d’Enfer Maxi Lashmascara, I headed to my stash of mascaras to pick out a new one. Normally, I would grab one of my Lancome mascaras, but instead I reached for this L’oreal Voluminous Miss Manga mascara. I have heard so many great things about this one so I figured it was time to see if the rumours were true.
I really didn’t expect to love this mascara as much as I did. It is easily comparable to any higher end mascara (except Lancome Definicils or Dior Addict It Lash; nothing will ever beat those), which pains me to say. The brush is a cone shaped fibrous wand. I never like the more fibrous wands, I find they contribute greatly to clumpiness, but surprisingly, my lashes were still free from clumps after brushing this mascara through. The formula is very wet, which I always prefer, so if you’re a fan of dryer mascaras, maybe stay away from this one. I noticed a great deal of both length and volume from this mascara. The only downside is because of the wetter formula, this mascara doesn’t hold a curl extremely well, but I found if I apply a primer first (I like the Dior Maximizer), then the problem is easily fixed.
I found that this mascara worked even better when it was layered with other mascaras. I started to apply the original Diorshow mascara overtop, which is an extremely dry formula so the two mascaras worked extremely well together. It’s like Ying and Yang. Opposites attract y’know?
