Morphe has always been that brand for me. I still remember when one of my friends went to Vegas in high school and brought me back a Morphe palette for my birthday (this was long before Morphe came to Canada). I’ve been obsessed with Morphe products ever since- especially their brushes. Funny enough, though, I’ve really been slacking on Morphe content here on ze blog- I only have one post about the Jaclyn Hill collaboration eyeshadow palette and a short blurb about their Mini Powder Puffs. But, today I’m making up for lost time with a dedicated post featuring some of my recent favourites from the brand.

Let’s start with the brushes first because I’m a huge Morphe brush fan. I already own quite a few of their eyeshadow brushes (the M333 Large Rounded Blender and M332 Medium Rounded Blender Eyeshadow Brushes are my favourites!), but this was my first time venturing into their face brushes.

I don’t often love brush sets. Well, I love them in theory, but they usually don’t contain the right mix of brushes for my needs. However, the Morphe Buttery Blends 4-Piece Face Brush Set ($42CAD/$28USD) included the perfect assortment. The set contains the M133 Domed Concealer Brush, the M202 Slanted Blush Brush, M242 Slanted Cream & Liquid Bronzer Brush, and the M244 Medium Angled Powder Bronzer Brush.

The M133 Domed Concealer Brush is your classic concealer brush, but surprisingly, I’ve never owned one until now. It’s fantastic for packing on concealer when you need a little extra coverage compared to using a blending sponge or your fingers. I love using it to apply concealer directly over blemishes before blending everything out with my sponge. It creates the perfect amount of coverage while still looking natural.

Next, we have the M202 Slanted Blush Brush which can be used with powder, cream, or liquid blushes and strikes the perfect balance between dense and fluffy bristles. I also like that it’s slightly smaller than my typical blush brush, so I can be very precise with my blush application.

Then we have the M242 Slanted Cream & Liquid Bronzer Brush, another brush that was noticeably missing from my collection. I’ve just been using a super fluffy bronzer brush with my cream bronzer (the Chanel Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream) and it just wasn’t cutting it. I needed a brush that was specifically designed for cream products and that allowed for more precise placement and blending. And that’s exactly what this brush delivers.

The final brush in the set is the M244 Medium Angled Powder Bronzer Brush, which is exclusive to the Buttery Blends set. It’s best suited for powder products, and it’s angled shape provides targeted sculpting and bronzing. I especially love using it to set my cream bronzer with a powder bronzer afterward.

That was a lot of brush talk, but we’re not done yet. I also picked up an individual brush because I was desperately in need of a new face powder brush. I don’t know what it is or if I just apply too much pressure when using a powder brush, but my powder brushes always end up getting so smushed and compacted over time. Clearly, I need to use a lighter hand. Nonetheless, it was time to pick up a new powder brush so I went with the Morphe M161 Large Rounded Powder Brush ($25CAD/$17USD). There are so many things I love about this brush. First, it’s super full and fluffy. It works great with both loose and pressed powders to set my makeup or blend out my brush and bronzer at the end of my makeup routine. And second (and maybe more importantly), it has silver ion-infused bristles that are known to be naturally antibacterial. Some of you may relate, but I unfortunately do not wash my brushes nearly as often as I should, so anything that has antibacterial benefits is a win in my books!

To round out my Morphe fan fest, we have the Morphe Lifeproof Continuous Setting Mist ($29CAD/$20USD). I’ve always really liked Morphe’s setting sprays (I’ve used their original Continuous Setting Mist in the past), but this is the newest Lifeproof one. It’s even more waterproof, sweatproof, and transfer-resistant than the OG formula with up to 16 hours of setting power. Normally, I wouldn’t fret over having 16 hours of budge-proof makeup, but with my wedding day coming up, I need the highest power setting spray on the market. And so far, this one has been incredible at keeping my makeup in place on my oily, acne-prone skin.
