It probably won’t come as a shock that I absolutely love K-beauty. And of course, living in Canada makes it just a bit harder to get your hands on it. Although, I have to admit we’ve come a long way over the last few years. We even have a couple of stores here in Edmonton that carry a small selection. But this was my first trying Unleashia K-beauty products from YesStyle and boy, am I excited to share my review with you.
Today’s post is all about Unleashia skincare and beauty products. Unleashia is a brand that’s completely new to me, but their packaging and product lineup immediately caught my attention. YesStyle kindly sent over over a selection of products for me to try, and I wasted no time putting them to the test.
Normally, I’d start with the skincare and then move on to the makeup, but let’s switch things up today (wow, Taylor, really living life on the edge!) and start with the Unleashia Shaper Defining Eyebrow Pencil ($10.50CAD/$13USD) in the shade No. 3 Taupe Gray. Now, I wouldn’t usually pick this shade out for myself, but it’s surprisingly versatile and actually works really well with my natural brow colour. It probably helps that the pencil has a super fine point (we’re talking 1mm!) with a soft, buildable colour payoff. It’s definitely not too harsh on the brows which I love! I always go for a more natural-looking brow shape and the built-in spoolie on the other end of the pencil makes it easy to brush everything out for a softer look! The pencil‘s formula also contains super soothing and hydrating ingredients (this is why I love kbeauty!! Skincare in an eyebrow pencil!!) like tea tree oil, chamomile extract and rose water blended with hyaluronic acid.
Keeping with the brow theme, we also have the Unleashia Shaper Pomade Eyebrow Fixer ($13.50CAD/$13USD). I always photograph products before I use them so you, the reader, get to see them looking all nice and pristine before I inevitably make them look well-loved. Because of that, I didn’t even realize this eyebrow pomade had a hidden brush and comb tucked inside the handle until after I’d already taken the photos. So, just imagine that there’s a photo showing the other brush and comb. This eyebrow pomade is super heavy duty. If you don’t want your brow hairs moving even a millimetre throughout the day, this is the product for you. I apply the glue-like gel with the spoolie and then shape everything into place with the attached comb. Once it dries, it holds all day long. However, although the hairs are glued in place, this product is actually super gentle on the brows because it’s infused with rice extract, soybean seed extract and glycerin for hydration.
And the last makeup product we’re talking about today is the Unleashia Sunset Dazzle Gloss Balm ($17.50CAD/$16USD) (although I think it definitely qualifies as a skincare-makeup hybrid). I am obsessed with this Gloss Balm. It has this super fun squishy, silicone, donut-shaped tip that makes applying the balm a dream. And the gloss is gorgeous. Mine is in the shade No. 1 Malibu and it’s the prettiest soft pink that provides quite good colour payoff! It’s formulated with peptides, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, making it incredibly hydrating and nourishing without feeling thick or sticky.
Okay, okay, onto the skincare now. The Unleashia Niacinamide Banana Sun Serum ($17.50CAD) is such a lovely sunscreen. It has the silkiest, smoothest serum texture that immediately absorbs almost instantly into the skin and doesn’t leave any sort of white-cast behind. The Sun Serum contains niacinamide, banana extract and adenosine to help support a strong, healthy skin barrier. And that’s not all- the packaging is actually super cool as well. It has a triple-seal design to protect the sunscreen from air exposure and oxidation, maintaining its freshness until the last drop! Cool, right?! Oh, and it probably goes without saying, but I should mention that this sunscreen offers SPF 50+ PA++++ protection to help shield your skin from any UV damage.
I may have saved my least favourite product for last- but that’s only because it genuinely pains me to talk negatively about a product (but I always will if it’s warranted!). The Unleashia Sorbet Cleanser ($25CAD) is a fantastic product in theory. It’s an exfoliating cleanser that helps to remove sebum, build-up, and dead skin-cells. It uses both physical exfoliation (walnut shell powder, micro-cellulose and apple, beet, and carrot powders) as well as chemical exfoliation (BHA, PHA, and Enzymes) to ensure any impurities within the pores are removed. And while it also contains Betaine and Panthenol to avoid stripping or irritating the skin, I just found this cleanser to be a little too harsh for my ultra-sensitive skin. Of course, everyone’s skin is different, and you gotta find what works for you. But I know I will definitely be using this cleanser more as a weekly mask rather than an everyday cleanser.
