Lake Louise is so pretty. I have been going on road trips with my family here as long as I can remember and it will never not be pretty. It will never get boring. Every time I see the lake surrounded by mountains, I will always be glad that I live in a place where the mountains are only a couple of hours away. It’s been a while since I’ve visited Lake Louise in the winter when there is snow. I usually go in the summer (check out my blog post!), but boy oh boy, I think it’s even more beautiful in the winter. It was almost beautiful enough to make me forget about how cold I was. Almost.
This is the first day this year that I have pulled out this parka. I’ve had this parka for three years now and do you know what’s weird? It’s never been on ze blog. Living in a place where winter is basically 6 months of the year, you would think that my parka would make an appearance on here much more often. But the truth is, winter fashion is a hard thing to display on my blog. I only have one parka so if you want to see my outfit every day, it would just be this jacket. Boring, I know. Hence, during the winter, I always opted in for doing my outfit of the day posts inside of building and the warmth and comfort of my own home. But maybe this winter, I will make more of an effort to capture my winter outfits outside. After all, I do have a couple of tricks up my sleeve to make this parka more exciting. One word. Accessorize.
Speaking of accessories, I am so excited about the toque on top of my head today. I have been looking for the perfect beanie and this one from Topshop is just so darn cute. (Ps did anyone see me on Topshop’s instagram? #fangirling). I love the oversized fur pompom. I think it’s the perfect accessory for the winter. It’s such a statement piece that dresses up my parka while also keeping my ears incredibly warm. It’s the best of both worlds. It comes in a bunch of other colours including navy, black, grey and a fun orange! I have a feeling I will have every colour by the end of the winter. I may or may not be kidding.
Under my parka, I wore one of my favorite sweaters from Zara. It’s a taupe and grey loose knit with slits down the side and if you know anything about me, it’s that I love shirts with slits. They’re just so much more exciting. I feel like they’re more flattering too with being able to add in some movement as they flow away from the body. (Check out this post for a more up close look). I really love the neck of this sweater. It’s not quite a turtleneck. It’s not quite a cowl neck. It’s somewhere in between. But the most important thing? It kept me warm at Lake Louise and that’s always nice.
