To say I’ve been liking makeup lately is a vast understatement. I’ve always loved makeup, but this month in particular, I’ve been getting quite excited about it. I’ve always wanted to try Yves Saint Laurent makeup, but the price tag has always hindered me. I’m always so hesitant to spend money on makeup, which is so weird considering I work in cosmetics.
So, I finally bought my first YSL makeup item. I received the $15 off $50 Beauty Insider coupon from Sephora the other day and I also had a $30 gift card that had been sitting in my wallet for ages so I figured it was a good time to pick out a little treat for myself. I had no idea what I wanted from Sephora. I spent a good chunk of time circling the store. I was thinking about buying the Tartelette Eyeshadow Palette or a new Marc Jacobs blush, but they just weren’t that exciting. Then, I headed over to the YSL section. This was the first lipstick I picked up- it was fate. As soon as I swatched it on my hand, I knew it was the one. It was love at first sight. Oh boy, I need to calm down about makeup.
First, let’s talk about the packaging. This is probably the nicest lipstick tube I have ever seen. It’s gold and heavy and beautiful. I thought a Chanel lipstick tube was the epitome of luxury but my oh my, this one is something else. It almost justifies the price. Almost.
But it’s not just the packaging that is nice about this lipstick. The Rouge Volupte formula is so incredibly soft and buttery. It just glides right on and feels so hydrating. I wouldn’t say it’s long lasting but it just feels so nice on the lips! And the colour- oh the colour. I’m so obsessed with this shade- #1 Nude Beige. It’s a medium nude colour with a slight rose tone to it. It’s described as a creamy neutral beige but I definitely like my description better. I have been looking for a colour like this for the longest time, it’s surprisingly harder than you would think. It’s the type of lipstick that could literally complement every eye look and every outfit.
