Spring is coming. Yes, that’s right. The snow is starting to melt. I don’t have to wear a parka every day. I don’t hate my life anymore. Everything is just great. But, before we all start cheering and pulling out the shorts and tank tops, hold your horses. (That idiom totally doesn’t fit in there, but I’m not going to change it. I’m kind of a rebel). It’s supposed to get cold again and most likely snow so that’s fantastic. I will have to appreciate this warm(ish) weather while it lasts.
I have really been loving wearing skirts lately. I think 2016 will be the year of the skirts. If the weather stays warm, that is. Because nothing is worse than wearing tights when it’s snowy and cold. (I’m just kidding, a lot of things are. #firstworldproblems.) I picked this skirt up on boxing day from H&M and boy oh boy, am I a fan. I have been wanting a sequined skirt for ages, you know the ones I’m talking about, like this or this. But while my 13 year old self thought they were super cute and fun, my almost 21 year old self is maturing and starting to think I should dress a tad more sophisticated. So I met in the middle and found this gorgeous beaded skirt instead. It has such a pretty design on it and I love the colours. I think these shades will be new palette for the new year. I just love that orangey rust color!
I am going to have so much fun pairing things with this skirt. There is so many different tops I could wear it with! Cream, red, black, tan, they will all look good! But today, I decided to tone it down a bit and I wore a simple black tank top tucked in with a black duster over top. I also wore black tights but then added these booties with brown leather accents that I thought paired so nicely with the skirt! To add one more pop of colour, I added this big hat in the same rust colour! I have really been appreciating hats lately. I used to just wear them as simply a fashion accessory but they also come in handy when I wake up for an 8am class and my hair is not looking too cute. Normally I would just throw my hair up into a ponytail, but this hat allows me so many more options!
