Smashbox has been on top of their game lately. Everything they have launched recently has been absolutely amazing, like their contour kit, lip palette, and primer oil. Their products are just so fun and cool lately! I’ve become a huge fan of Smashbox in the previous months.
One of their newest innovative products to hit the shelf is the new Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer. I was so excited when I first started hearing news about this. It’s a silicone-like gel that you pat over any lipstick and it will instantly turn it matte. Is that not the coolest thing ever?! Matte lips are so in right now so it would be so handy to be able to turn all of your existing lipsticks matte!
However, I’m sad to say, I wasn’t asimpressed with this as I would have liked. But don’t get me wrong, I still like it and I have been using it, there are just a couple of downsides as well. First, when I pat it over the lipstick, I find that it takes away some of the pigmentation of my lipstick. It becomes a bit more sheer and patchy in parts even though I didn’t rub the gel in at all. Second, sometimes the gel will bunch up on the corners of my mouth during longer wear, it definitely doesn’t stay smooth all day. But that being said, this product does an awesome job at making the lipstick matte! If takes away all the shine and leaves your lips looking totally matte. Another thing I love about this product is that it doesn’t add extra dryness like any other matte lipstick would! My lips still feel as moisturized as they would with a creamy lipstick and they don’t start to crack towards the end of the day, so that’s definitely an upside!
I also got to try a couple of Smashbox’s Be Legendary Cream Lipsticks in the shades Get Fired and Panorama Pink. Get Fired is a true, warm red. It’s the perfect red for any season! It’s the one that I’m wearing in the swatches above and I think it looks so gorgeous matte with the Insta-Matte Transformer over top as well. Panorama Pink is so pretty as well! It’s a midtoned pink that I have been wearing almost day since I got it! It looks more bright and pink in the tube than it actually is though! It appears more natural on my lips which I love!
