Liquid lipsticks have been all the rage lately. From Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks to the ever-popular Kylie Lip Kits, every brand is coming out with their version of the matte lip colours. However, I have yet to find a liquid lipstick that I truly like. The closest I had come was with the Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Lip Colours, but their one flaw was that they weren’t transfer proof.
Then, one day on a trip to Calgary, I was in the Chinook Mall Shopper’s Beauty Boutique where they have a Chanel counter and I decided to spend my points there! (My haul of what else I bought will be up on ze blog later this month). I couldn’t really decide what I wanted (and the salespeople were being hella pushy) so I picked up this Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Colour. Why does high end makeup always have such lengthy names? I had never really heard or read any reviews about these lip colours before. The only thing I had heard was from my friend Niki who loves them, so I decided to give one a try!
This formula is amazing. It combines everything I love into a liquid lipstick. First of all, the colour is gorgeous. It’s shade is Light Rose and it’s a lovely neutral pink with some very subtle gold shimmer thrown in. My biggest problem with liquid lipsticks is how drying they are and how they seem to just flake off the lips throughout the day. However, this Chanel Double Intensité doesn’t do that. It dries fully on the lips and is completely matte, yet it doesn’t pucker my lips and make them feel like I haven’t had water in a week. It turns into a stain almost but with a full coverage lipstick look still. I am able to wear this colour all day without having to worry about completely taking it off and reapplying it. I can put on multiple coats of it throughout the day without having dry patches of skin flaking off. It’s amazing!
This lip colour is dual ended, however I would much prefer it not to be. The other side is just a clear gloss. Although the clear gloss is incredibly shiny and glossy, it really doesn’t do much other than add shine to my lips. It does contain some oils so if I found that my lips were getting very dry with the liquid lipstick, it would add some comfort and hydration to my lips, but I have yet to reach for that side yet. I have just been way too pleased with the liquid lipstick end to even consider putting a shinny gloss over it. I prefer the matte look for now!
