A long time ago (and by long time ago, I mean like two years ago), Pur used to have these amazing cream eyeshadows. They were in a tube with a doe-foot applicatorand they were absolutely beautiful used as a base with a powder eyeshadow over top or even alone! They lasted all day and didn’t crease. I had a light champagne one and a rose gold one that I used almost every day! However, good things don’t last forever. Pur decided to discontinue these. They soon began to run out and dry out and I was devastated. I often wonder why companies decide to discontinue the things they do. These were amazing and should have never been discontinued. But alas, that is life.
However, Pur soon replaced them with these new Eye Polishes. I was hesitant to try them at first. They were a totally different concept. They are a much more liquid-y formula housed in a glass jar with a net over the top to limit the flow of the product. They come with a silicone applicator designed to pick up the right amount of the shadow and smooth it nicely over your lid. Sounds cool, right? Wrong.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I really do love these Eye Polishes. But Pur really needs to rethink their concept of this plastic-y brush. It’s entirely useless. It picks up little product and then leaves it patchy and uneven on your eyelids. However, I tried using just a regular synthetic bristle brush and it worked amazingly well! It smoothes over any clumps and leaves a sheer metallic wash of colour. It’s gorgeous.
Now let’s talk about the actual formula. These cream shadows really can’t even be called cream shadows. They are way more of a liquid than a cream. A watery gel would be a more accurate description. They feel so nice on the lid. Cold and refreshing, and so lightweight. And, like their original cream shadow counterparts, these Eye Polishes don’t crease as well! They last all day without budging one bit!
In addition, the shades are so pretty. I have the shimmery champagne shade called Cashmere, which is definitely my most used one. It goes perfectly under any eyeshadow to make it pop. I especially love pairing it under my Dior Mono Fusion Eyeshadow in a sparkly gold colour, Mirror. The two are so pretty together. The other shade I have is a light pink shade called Satin. This colour is absolutely gorgeous, but a tad bit dark for me if I want to use it as a base for some lighter shadows. However, it’s a gorgeous colour to wear on it’s own!
And if you’re a bit more daring with your makeup than me, Pur also has these Eye Polishes in some deeper colours! Caviar is one of my favorites that I dream of being able to pull off one day. It’s an extremely deep chocolate brown with light gold shimmer. Absolutely gorgeous. What shades are you favorite?
