Jasper Weekend Getaway

I have done nothingthis summer. Actually, that’s a lie, it hasn’t been a bad summer. I have just been working a ton trying to save up money for tuition and buying a car (!), so my social life has been on the backburner. But as there were only two weeks because school starts up again (where has time gone?!), I knew I needed one last little roadtrip to celebrate the end of Summer. So, I called up my best friend, Kevin, and we decided to do something that I have been dying to do forever- see the Glacier Skywalk. The Glacier skywalk is a super cool bridge suspended 918 feet above glacier-formed valleys and waterfalls an hour outside Jasper! But it isn’t just any bridge. The entire bridge is glass meaning you can see right below your feet. Not gonna lie, it was kind of freaky. I’ve never been scared of heights but when just one sheet of glass (a very thick sheet albeit) separates you and 918 feet of air below, it’s pretty tough not to be scared at first! But how breathtaking are these views? I feel so lucky to live somewhere where the mountains are just a couple of hours a way.

I really wish I was sporty. I really do. But, the fact of the matter is that I couldn’t be more opposite from being sporty. So, instead of trying to change that, I am just going to embrace it. Because let’s face it, if I was sporty, I just wouldn’t be Taylor and that just wouldn’t be right.

So when my friends decided they wanted to go hiking, I knew my regular attire just wouldn’t cut it out. Apparently sandals and dresses aren’t good for hiking, who knew! So after much deliberation, I decided this outfit would have to do. I’m wearing a top and pants from Onzie, a super cute company that has the best yoga wear! The top is one of those awesome styles that has an attached sports bra. It kept me cool all day under the hot Jasper sun. The pants are flowy capris that couldn’t be more comfy! The weather was extremely predictable so I also layered a light bomber over my outfit for when the wind picked up a bit. For sneakers, I wore my trusty Nike Roshe Runs. A couple of years ago, I didn’t even own a pair of sneakers, so wouldn’t ya say I’ve definitely made progress? For accessories, I wore my Matt & Nat backpack that was able to carry all of my hiking essentials aka my camera, selfie stick and a water bottle.

This weekend in Jasper was the perfect ending to my Summer and now I’m not as sad to be heading back to school in a week. Fourth year uni, here I come!
