To everyone’s surprise, I don’t really buy a huge amount of makeup. I am fortunate enough to receive makeup both from my blog and my job, so when it comes to buying makeup, I don’t really need to, especially lipsticks. I have the world’s largest collection of lipsticks (I would love to see the Guinness World Record for who actually has that collection) even though I go through and purge them every season. So because of that, if I buy a lipstick, that is the number one sign it is something special. And trust me, the lipstick I’m reviewing today is really something special.
Stila recently came out with their Stay All Day MATTE’ificent Lipsticks. At first, I thought they were going to be your average matte lipsticks, something that doesn’t excite me too much. If I want a matte lipstick, I usually reach for a matte liquid lipstick instead. However, the minute I swatched these on my hand, my feelings about matte lipsticks were changed forever. God, I am dramatic about lipsticks. I need to calm down a little.
I picked up mine in the shade Mon Ami. Part of the reason I love this lipstick is definitely because of the shade (duh). It is a slightly pinker version of the Stila Liquid Lipstick in Baci. For those who aren’t aware, Baci is the most gorgeous purpley-pinkish-grey shade. It’s like a pinky mauve. I absolutely love the colour, so when I saw this lipstick version of the shade, I knew I had to have it. Now looking at the pictures I took, the colour definitely doesn’t portray it’s true self. This is definitely a colour you need to see in store for yourself. It’s more mauve than how it appears here.
And the formula. My oh my. The formula is something different, that’s for sure. When it first goes on, it feels almost sticky. Because of the matte formula, it doesn’t just glide on, you almost have to work it into the lips. It’s very thick in a sense, but still feels lightweight on your lips. However, because of all these things, you would think that it’s drying right? Wrong. This is one of the most moisturizing matte lipsticks I have ever tried. Plus, it’s longevity and staying power is absolutely amazing. Because of it’s almost sticky texture, it really does stay on your lips instead of slipping off like a more creamy or glossy lipstick. And unlike a matte liquid lipstick, it doesn’t crack or pill or do any of those nasty things that we all love to hate. This is truly a no fuss lipstick.
But before we finish this post, we need to talk about one more thing: the lipliners. When Stila launched these MATTE’ificent Lipsticks, they also launched a new collection of lipliners. I have discovered the miracle of lipliners lately and I just can’t get enough. The lipliners are so gorgeous and they pair perfectly with these lipsticks. My top two are Zinfandel and Pink Moscato. Both look great with the Mon Ami MATTE’ificent Lipstick and both will be staple lipliners for any nude or pink lipsticks in your collection. However, I am a broke college student so I can’t justify buying them just yet. Stila, will ya be a gem and send them to me? Thanks gurl.
