Baby, It’s Cold Outside

As I was talking about in some of my previous blog posts, up until this point, we have been blessed with a surprisingly mild winter this year. But it was just not meant to last. Today it was a chilly -20. My fingers almost froze off. It was a close call. When editing and going through these photos, a lot of them were sent straight to the trash because my eyes were tearing up and my nose had turned red. Then again, that is rather festive. Did someone call Rudolph?

Let’s just get right to the point. This jacket. This jacket is my everything. I first saw it online on Kit and Ace and instantly fell in love with it. It’s an oversized peacoat with cute flared out sleeves. But, that’s not all. I could go on and on about this jacket, but I will try to keep it short for you. First, the quality and the material are super nice. I have trouble finding jackets because they all seem to look like absolute (for lack of a better word) shit after a couple of months. They start to pill and collect lint and just don’t look nice. Yes, I’m calling all those Aritzia coats out. However, this jacket might be the nicest quality I’ve ever had. It’s 90% wool and 10% cashmere and honestly, you just need to touch it in person to see (feel?) what I’m talking about. And another thing that was definitely a major selling factor in purchasing this jacket is that it’s super duper practical for my horrible Alberta winters. It has a zip-out inside layer that you can button across your body to protect your neck from the cold. It’s like having a built-in scarf. And, this coat is currently on sale right now, so if you want it, you better snatch it up quick. (I’m wearing a size XS for reference!) It’s also available in black but to be honest, it just doesn’t do it justice. You can’t see the fit and style as well in the darker colour. So, take my advice and stick with the grey.

I’m now starting to realize just how much Black Friday shopping I actually did because almost everything I’m wearing today is from that shopping fiasco. I picked these jeans up from The Bay on Black Friday for half off and they are exactly what I’ve been searching everywhere for. They’re a coated black denim that almost has a leather appearance and they just look so damn good with everything. I have been needing a black pair of jeans for ages because all of mine faded to a nice (not nice) dusty grey. I just wanted a tight, true black pair of pants and these definitely fit the bill. They’re perfect.

My boots are also from my Black Friday shopping spree and I am so happy to finally have my hands on these. So, if you weren’t aware (why aren’t you aware? Please read my blog more), I have been obsessed with this Old Navy style of boot. I was never a huge Old Navy shopper until I came across these boots. I started out with the tan/camel pair (see them here) and once I saw how comfy and surprisingly cute they were, I picked them up in the black suede (see here) as well last year. Both pairs easily fall into my top five most worn boots, so when Old Navy came out with two new colours this year, I knew I needed them as well. So I picked them up in the dark grey suede that I’m wearing today and I also have a black leather pair coming in the mail. The fact that I have these boots in four different colours really means something. I’m obsessed. You need them too. Plus they’re on a super good sale right now. How can you pass up a $20 pair of boots? You can’t. It’s impossible.
