Mon Guerlain

When was the last time I talked about perfumes on ze blog? It’s been a New York minute for sure (speaking of New York Minute, who else was the biggest fan of that movie? I love me some Olsen twins). Six months ago, I did a post on my favorite Spring fragrances (read here) and last year I did a post on my all-time favorite fragrances (read here)! But today, I’m gonna be talking about a brand new perfume that Guerlain just released! I got to go to the Guerlain fragrance launch a couple weeks ago, but we weren’t allowed to post any pictures until now, so it was a struggle not sharing this beautiful bottle with y’all!

This is the Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum fragrance and this is the first Guerlain fragrance I don’t hate. Ooooh, that’s a bad way to start a review. I’m so sorry. (and sorry to Guerlain, y’all know I love everything else about you). But don’t get me wrong, Guerlain fragrances are great and I know tons of people who love them! I’m just a tacky-ass ratchet twelve year old tween who prefers sweet sugary scents (like my 10-year love for Pink Sugar) over the more floral sophisticated scents. But, this new fragrance is kind of the happy medium between typical Guerlain scents and my love of anything sweet.

Honestly, I don’t even know why I bother posting perfume reviews on ze blog. It might be the hardest thing in the world to describe a scent. But, like the true trooper I am, I’m going to try my best. So, Mon Guerlain is described as a fresh oriental fragrance withCarla Lavender from Provence, Sambac Jasmine from India, Album Sandalwood from Australia and Vanilla Tahitensis from Papua New Guinea. Yeah, that’s really great, Taylor, but what does the scent actually smell like? You can definitely smell the vanilla, that’s for sure. Right when I take a sniff of this perfume, the vanilla hits me first, follow by a more musky, slightly spicy smell. It’s nice. Really nice. That’s as detailed as it’s going to get.

But this review ain’t over yet. Because if there’s one thing more important than the scent of the perfume, it’s the bottle. This“quadrilobe” (I have absolutely no idea what that means, but I’m assuming that’s what the bottle’s shape is called) bottle was actually created way back in 1908, and has since been established as one of Guerlain’s iconic bottles. It’s so simple, yet chic and feminine. It’s the ultimate luxurious perfume bottle. This is one you want sitting front and center on your vanity.
