Kérastase Aura Botanica Collection

Bad hair days seem to be a constant thing for me in the summer. It’s just too humid (even in dry Alberta) and hot for my hair to look half decent. Hence, I always seem to cut it short every summer because I just get way too sick of it. However, this might be the season of change for me because I’ve found the hair care line that may have just changed my life around.

I am a huge fan of Kérastase. I’ve tried a bajillion (totally a real word) of their products now including the Discipline line (review here), the Nutritive line and the Elixir Ultime line (review here), but these have all lessened in comparison to the brand new Aura Botanica line that Kérastase just released. I have never been so blown away by a hair care line. Honestly, my hair has never looked better. Just ask my boyfriend. He agrees.

So, the Aura Botanica line is made of 98% natural origin. The range refines nature into a luxurious experience featuring handpicked Samoan Coconut and Moroccan Argan oils, with no silicones, no sulfates, and no parabens. It seems like all brands are starting to veer into more responsible sourced, sustainable production and Kérastase is definitely one of the leaders in these activities. But in addition to these ethical behaviours, Kérastase promises healthy, glowing hair from this Aura Botanica line and that is exactly what I got.

The Aura Botanica Bain Micellaire(CDN $45.00) is a beautiful shampoo. It doesn’t lather much (because of the absence of silicones and sulfate) which made me nervous at first because I usually prefer a bit more suds, but it still cleaned my hair fully. The natural Samoan Coconut oil doesn’t add any weight, coating, or oiliness to the hair, leaving it shiny and glowing. After cleansing the hair, the Soin Fondamental (CDN $50.00) is the perfect conditioner to pair with the shampoo. It’s a bit thicker than a typical conditioner which I absolutely love. But even though it is more thick, it’s still lightweightand creamy and instantly melts into hair fibres for 48 hours of deep, durable nutrition and frizz control. And the coconut, Argan and Moroccan oils help to detangle and fully condition your hair. I love to leave this conditioner on for a minimum of five minutes and when I wash it out, it leaves my hair amazingly soft. I have never touched hair so soft.

But speaking of soft, the Essence d\’Éclat (CDN $57.00) definitely plays a role in the softness of my hair as well. It’s an ultra-fine mist that I can’t live without. 2-3 pumps sprays the perfect amount of the bi-phase formula (water and oils) throughout my hair. Normally, frizz is something I can’t totally eliminate in my hair, but with this spray, my hair has never looked more shiny nor sleek. I don’t even bother styling my hair with a straightener when I use this product. That’s how beautiful it makes my hair. The last item in the range is theConcentré Essentiel(CDN $60.00) which is a super cool product. It’s a customizable, multi-use oil that can be applied four different ways!First, you can massage into your scalp if it’s dry or tight before shampooing for added nutrition. Or for more normal to thick hair, you can massage into the ends of your hair before shampooing. For more of a treatment (and my favorite method) you can mix in a few drops into the Aura Botanica Soin Fondamental conditioner (using a 10:1 ratio) to add intense conditioning to hair. My hair has never felt more nourished when I tried this application. And lastly for more of a body oil if you have dry skin, you can use the oil to massage hands and body. The oil is a bit more pricey at $60 (CDN), but with so many different uses, I think the price is quite justified!

Honestly, I wish y’all could just run your fingers through my hair right now. Even though I absolutely detest people touching my hair, it’s just way too soft to not be touched. And shiny. And no frizz in sight. And it smells good too. Basically, I have my dream hair right now. #hairgoals. Kérastase, you did an amazing job with this line. My hair thanks you.
