I have nevereverbought a MAC Lipstick in my whole life. I’m sure that comes to an absolute shock as I own every single other brand of lipstick. However, that all changed when Samantha Ravndahl (one of my favorite youtubers and possibly the prettiest person I’ve ever seen) collaborated with MAC to make her own lipstick as part of their new influencers collection. This collection features a different beauty influencer from every country who collaborated to make a lipstick that is only available in that country. And lucky for me, Samantha is indeed Canadian, so her lipstick was the one available in Canada!
So this lipstick is similar to every other traditional MAC lipstick in it’s simple black and silver tube and it’s everloved sweet vanilla scent (Not that I would know that as this is my first MAC lipstick but boy oh boy, have I heard people rave about MAC’s lipsticks’ scent). The formula is also incredibly creamy and it glides smoothly onto the lips just as a lipstick should. However, I think the main thing you probably want to know about the lipstick is the shade. Samantha has always been a long-time wearer of nude lipsticks so it was almost expected that her shade in this collaboration would be (yup, you guessed it) a nude-y pink.
I was a tiny bit hesitant when I first opened up the lipstick bullet and found this very light pinky nude. I am so so so pale and I sometimes have a hard time pulling off lighter shades of lipstick because it almost just blends into the rest of my skin. However, this lipstick has enough pink in it to still make my lips pop and it turned out looking absolutely great on me! I think I have finally found my perfect everyday lipstick. I have reached for this so many times in the past couple of weeks. It just seems to match every makeup look I do.
However, although I feel like this lipstick is a perfect compliment to my skin tone, I’m not sure if I can say the same for others. It’s such a light shade that I feel like it would not be as flattering on darker skin tones. I was looking up reviews for this shade on the MAC website and one customer stated“it looks like I ate a bunch of powdered donuts” which I could totally picture. It is indeed a very light shade that might not be the easiest for every skintone to pull off. However, because this lipstick is more of a sheer creamsheen finish, you could easily layer this lipstick over a darker lipliner and it could easily deepen the shade enough to suit your particular skintone! There! Problem solved!
