Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment
The countdown has began. Two and a half weeks. That is all that separates me and Mexico. Eighteen days until I step foot on a sandy beach and instantly burst into flames because I am a pasty pale gal and I can not handle the sun in Edmonton, let alone Mexico. But that is something I won’t worry about until I’m there. For now, I’ve been concentrating on packing my essentials for Mexico and one of those things is the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment.
I have been a tried-and-trued fan of the original Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask (full blog review here). It’s truly a revolutionary product, however it is a tiny bit bulky for on the go. You won’t see me lugging this mask in my carry-on suitcase. It would probably snap in half. It’s better left at home. So for those instances, the mini Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment is much better suited for on-the-go acne zapping!
So, if you haven’t heard of either Light Therapy product before, here is a quick overview! Essentially, the energy from red and blue lights gently filters through the skin, targeting acne-causing bacteria, reducing the appearance of breakouts. It’s chemical free, UV free and is super quick and easy with no mess and no residue so you can literally use it anywhere AKA in Mexico on the beach. All you have to do is turn on the power button and hold the light pen against your skin for two minutes on the blemish. When the two minutes are over, the light will turn off and the device will beep to let you know you are done! Then, you can move on to the next breakout (if you have multiple) and repeat the process! It couldn’t be easier! This has become the nightly routine where I lie in bed and use the device on any breakouts I see!
It’s especially handy for when I see a breakout underneath the skin and I want to prevent it before it fully erupts into an angry pimply tornado. Cute. But I’m sure the question on everybody’s mind is“Is this product too good to be true?”. And the answer is, no. This product works amazingly. However, it’s not for everyone which is important to note. It’s not recommended to use if you have cystic or more severe acne. It’s more suitable to treat mild to moderate acne AKA what I have now. But poor eighteen year old Taylor would not have found this product helpful as her (my) acne was much more severe and required prescription medication and dermatologists’ attention. Not a simple light could kill that bacteria. However, for someone who experiences breakouts due to hormone imbalances during that time of the month, this is the perfect product to use and you better bet I keep this product in my purse at all times!
