Now, before I jump into this post, we have to address the obvious. I’m sure you’re all thinking about the fact that I don’t have oily skin nor would I have any need for a matte serum. And it’s totally true, my skin is dry and matte products are something I usually avoid like the plague. But to much my surprise, I found a use for this product!
Dior recently launched their Capture Youth line that consists of a total of five, yes five, serums! The five targeted serums are designed to each meet a specific need of different skin types. For dull skin, the Glow Booster Serum contains vitamin C and AHA combine to brighten and even skin. For dryness or lack of density, thePlump Filler Serum contains hyaluronic acid from fermented wheat hydrates and replenishes the skin to make it appear fuller and more supple. For lack of firmness or first signs of wrinkles, the Lift Sculptor Serum contains polyphenols derived from a tea blend boost elastin production to visibly lift and sculpt the skin for firmer, more defined skin contours. For red and irritated skin, the Redness Soother Serum has natural peptides from cotton that reduces redness and irritation for a smoother, more even complexion. And last but not least, the Matte Maximizer Serum is for oily skin and controls excess oil. There is also a cream in the Capture Youth line that you can pair with any of these serums that works to delay visible signs of aging before they appear and doubles as an eye cream!
But today, we’re focusing on the Dior Capture Youth Matte Maximizer serum ($120CAD/$95USD) (although I really wish I could own all five serums- that’s the dream)! This serum contains lactic acid derived from sugar cane, as well as pink clay and zinc gluconate, that regulates excess sebum to help reduce shine and refine pores. In addition, the antioxidant boosting iris extract (which smells AMAZING by the way) leaves skin feeling velvety-soft.
So now that we’ve gotten all of the scientific facts out of the way, let’s talk about the real reason why I use this serum. As I previously stated, I have dry skin and therefore, oily skin hasn’t been a problem of mine since my good ol’ teenage years. But I found oneuse for this serum that has slightly changed my life for the better. My nose is super weird. For some reason, no foundation will stick to it. I find that any makeup rubs off of it so easily throughout the day. However, if I pat this serum on my nose before putting on my makeup, I find it absorbs any excess oil on my nose throughout the day and thus, my makeup stays on so much better and doesn’t rub off! But yes, I know what you’re thinking-“Taylor, are you trying to tell us to buy a $120 serum just so our makeup won’t rub off our noses?”. No, what I’m saying is that judging by how well this serum worked on keeping my nose oil-free throughout the day, this could truly work wonders for someone who actually has oily skin, ya feel?
