The Re-emergence of Mustard Yellow

Remember last summer when mustard yellow was all that I would wear? But then winter came and my mustard hues were pushed to the back of my closet because there is just no need for sunshine-y yellow when it is a raging blizzard outside. And when summer finally showed it’s face again, my yellow clothes just didn’t re-emerge. I gravitated towards my pastel pinks and creams and white instead and no yellow was to be seen. But I’m very happy to announce that mustard yellow has once again come back into my life and I have a very strong feeling that mustard yellow is all you will be seeing in my Outfit of the Days for the next couple of weeks.

So since we’re on the topic of mustard yellow, we obviously have to talk about this glorious yellow t-shirt. I picked this up from Stradivarius in Mexico when I was there last month. And like most Canadians, I had never heard of the store but my oh my, what a glorious store it is. I immediately fell in love with everything because it is (in my opinion) exactly like Zara and y’all know how much I love Zara. Both stores originate from Spain so it’s no coincidence I’m a huge fan of both. So anyways, I picked up this t-shirt for only like $15CAD and it’s one of my favorite t-shirts ever. It’s an incredibly silky soft cotton with an oversized fit and a cute knot detail on the side. But that wasn’t the only mustard yellow I picked up at Stradivarius. I also fell in love with these mustard yellow fringe earrings that are so obnoxious yet so dang cute. I limited myself to just these two items, thinking I could just order more online when I was back in Canada. But then the worst thing happened. When I got home, I checked the website and they DO NOT SHIP TO CANADA. What world do we live in that places stilldo not ship to Canada?? This is the twenty first century, y’all. Let’s get with it. We ain’t Antartica. Anyways, I’m just a tad bitter that I will probably never be able to shop at Stradivarius again.

But let’s change subjects to something a little more positive. As you probably all know, I graduated in April and I thought I deserved a lil’ something something, ya feel? I have been on the impossible search for probably six years now for the perfect black purse. A black purse probably seems like the easiest thing to find in hindsight, yet it definitely isn’t. I wanted something small, crossbody, but still able to fit my essentials, had silver hardware and was a versatile style that could be dressed up or down. The list goes on. Nothing I found was ever perfect. It had to be perfect. I stumbled across the AllSaints website one day because they were having an amazing sale so I thought I would take a lil bit of a look. I’ve always been a huge fan of AllSaints. Nobody does leather better than them. And so when I saw this purse (the Fleur de Lis Crossbody style), I knew I needed it. It is made out of the softest, most buttery lamb leather with delicate silver hardware and leather tassels hanging down. It is such a simple style but so gorgeous. It has a gorgeous silver chain strap and it holds so much! I’ve been wearing this purse every single day since I got it and I don’t think I’ll ever stop. We are soul mates.

Now we’re going to do a full 180 from the higher end, luxury purse to a pair of slides from Walmart. Walmart??? WALMART??? Taylor, who are you?! But hear me out. My friend Vanessa dragged me (very willingly) to Walmart on the search for slides that one of her friends had already gotten me there. I honestly thought it was too goo to be true that we would find a cute pair of shoes at Walmart but I am digging these slides! They’re a super simple black (fake) suede with a cushioned sole and an itty bitty block heel. But are you ready for the best part? Guess the price. Just do it. $30? Nope. $20? Nope. $10? Nope. These babies were $9. NINE DOLLARS!!! Where else can you find a cute pair of shoes for nine dollars. I’m a happy gal and I’ve really changed my outlook on the world of Walmart.
