Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Palette

As I mentioned previously in my Sephora VIB Sale Recommendationspost, I picked up just onelittle thing during the 20% off sale. I really don’t need more makeup (it’s out of control y’all) so my self control was working on overdrive when I stopped into Sephora on the first day of the sale. I have been dying to try out the Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palettes. They are the cutest little palettes, each with a selection of nine highly pigmented mattes and shimmers. They are now available in six different, gorgeous colours (Warm Brown, Gemstone, Mauve, Smokey, Electric, and Coral) with FIVE more on the way (I’m patiently awaiting those ones). One day I want to own them all, but for now, I had to narrow it down to just buying my singular favorite one. See? I wasn’t kidding when I said my self control was put to the test that day.

So which palette did I pick? The Coral Obsessions palette($27USD/$35CAD). It is the most stunning combination of pinks and oranges and unlike anything I own. Ever since I started breaking out of my shell and using the Urban Decay Born to Run palette (review here) which is chock-full of fun colours, I’ve been drawn away from my usual neutral looks and I’ve been reaching for more and more bright colours on my eyes! I never thought I would do that. But hey! New year, new me! The Coral Obsessions palette has a mixture of burnt oranges ranging to dusty pinks with two GORGEOUS duo chrome shimmers and the rest are super pigmented, creamy matte shadows.

Despite the overall colourful nature of this palette, it’s surprisingly versatile. The middle row is very neutral with a matte brick reddish brown, a mid-tone brown and a gorgeous warm caramel shade. With these three shades, it’s become quite easy for me to tone down the sunset vibes of this palette into an everyday, wearable eyeshadow look. Something that really drew me to this palette was the fun mustard yellow. If you haven’t been keeping up with ze blog, you might not be aware of how much I love mustard yellow. A couple of years ago before mustard yellow became the next“it” colour, I always fantasized about finding a mustard yellow shade to wear on my eyes that wouldn’t make my look sickly. Well, this is. It’s just mustard enough to still look yellow but it’s nothing crazy that people are gonna wonder why a bottle of mustard exploded on your face. Ya feel? And the two duochrome shades in this palette are absolutely gorgeous as well. There’s a stunning rose gold shimmery shadow as well as a gold shadow with orange and pink reflects in it that practically screams“sunset golden hour”.

This palette is super summery however with the deeper brick red, and bright raspberry shades, I think this will be a really fun palette to transition into the fall. If I was more talented in the world of makeup, I would totally do a look with the brick red and the mustard yellow. I think that would look stunning. However on me, it would just look like a mess of condiments puked on my eyelids. Mmmm cute, Taylor.
