Business Casual for Fall

Fall has officially hit down in Edmonton. But it’s not the right kind of fall. It’s not the leaves gently falling to the ground with a fresh crispness in the air that makes pumpkin picking and corn mazin’ the perfect outdoor activities. Oh no. It’s the fall that has bitter winds and below 0 temperatures and makes you want to sit in front of a fireplace with a warm cup of hot chocolate and a good book. Actually, that last part doesn’t sound half bad. But what I’m trying to say, is that in typical Edmonton fashion, we basically skipped fall and went straight to winter.

Regardless of the weather (and how cold I was trying to photograph this), I am so excited to present to you the first of many“business casual” outfits that have now become the norm for me! But in all honesty, I don’t think this outfit is a far cry from what I would normally wear to school. I’ve always had an air of business casual about me. Wow, that sounded way too pretentious. Please ignore me. Anyways as soon as September hit and I got my first“adult” job and didn’t have to think about buying clothes purely for school anymore, I went on a lil’ shopping spree at Aritzia. Little is definitely not the right word to use. Nothing about it was little. But the positive thing that came out of all that money spending is that I now have a bunch of super cute outfits to show you! I did it for ze blog, okay?

So this is one of my favorite outfits I picked up from Aritzia. Everything about it just screams Fall. I spotted these pants when I was shopping and I just loved the silky material and the thin pinstripe pattern going down the leg. They are the Modesto pant in the Tuscan Olive/Path colour-way and they feature a high rise with a loose, flowy leg and a cropped ankle length. Not only are they extremely chic and polished, but they’re also so damn comfy! That’s my kind of business casual, y’all.

I went with a monochrome look by pairing this green turtleneck with the green pants. Can a look really be called monochrome if only two of the pieces are the same colour? Ah, let’s just pretend it is. This is the Seaton turtleneck in the Mossy Stone colour and I love this turtleneck so much, I actually got it in twodifferent colours. That’s when you know you really love something. This is the perfect layering piece for Fall. It’s so lightweight yet it’s made of the softest material so it’s super cozy and comfy. I absolutely love the fit of it with a drapey, loose body but tight, formfitting sleeves. It’s a good one for sure. My eyes are on the mustard/gold colour next.

To separate the two green pieces from each other, I added my favorite dusty rose oversized blazer that seems to compliment this olive green colour so nicely! And for my boots, I wore my trusty Old Navy camel ankle boots that I’m prayingthey bring back in more colours this year. Everyone, cross yo’ fingers. But of course, we don’t have the kind of Fall in Edmonton where I can just wear this outfit and not freeze my lil butt off. So when I’m actually wearing this outfit out and about, you better believe I have a thick coat and blanket scarf thrown on top.
