Nivea Micellar Water and Care Cream

Nivea is one brand that I’ve never really mentioned on ze blog before because if I am being totally honest, it never really excited me before. Because when I think of Nivea, I just think of this boring blue and white packaging with thick white creams that don’t really excite me. I’m sorry. I was just a hater of Nivea in my previous years of life. But that’s all about to change.

I have this obsession with micellar waters. Before micellar waters hit the market in Canada, I refused to use a makeup remover on my eyes because I hated that greasy, oily feeling that it left on my skin afterwards. But when the Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water came to Canada, I instantly became a fan and it changed my skincare routine for the better. It still seems like magic that something that looks like water and smells like water and feels like water can remove such heavy and waterproof makeup. It seems like it shouldn’t work. But it does.

I’ve really only used the Bioderma Micellar Water over the years. I have tried the Dior micellar water as well as theLa Roche Posaymicellar water but I’ve always gone back to the Bioderma one because it seems to be the best bang for your buck and it does it’s job extremely well. However, we now have a competitor in the running for best micellar water. The Nivea MicellAIR micellar water is the later water to hit the drugstore skincare market and boy oh boy, it’s a good one. It’s made for dry and sensitive skin so it’s absolutely perfect on my skin without leaving it feeling tight or stripped of it’s natural oil. Additionally, it claims to have 0% product residue which I am so happy to report that this is a very accurate claim. No greasy or oily film is left behind! I actually only use the Bioderma Micellar Water on my eyes instead of my whole face because I feel like I breakout from it. However, I have been using the Nivea MicellAIR micellar water on my entire face for a month now and I have not noticed any unusual breakouts resulting from it! And it’s makeup-removing powers are phenomenal, removing even waterproof makeup without any rubbing or tugging of the skin!

While the Nivea MicellAIR water is definitely a winner in my books, I’m not sure if I can say the same for the Nivea Care Cream. But to be honest, I am not the best judge for this category. I’ve never had particularly dry skin on my body and therefore, because I’m lazy, I’ve never been the type to apply body lotion religiously every day. But, if I did have dry skin, I think I would really like this Nivea Care Cream. For starters, it’s incredibly thick which is always a good thing for dry skin. And because it’s so thick, you automatically think it’s heavy and greasy, right? Well, y’all are wrong. It absorbs in incredibly fast, leaving a non-greasy, moisturized feeling on your skin!
