  • Skincare Routine

As you all know, I work at Shoppers Drug Mart in the Beauty Boutique which gives me a chance to learn about and try out a wide variety of products. Because of this, I’ve been able to really narrow down my skincare favorites and perfect the routine for what works best for me.

First, I wash my face. I don’t use any makeup wipes or anything because I find they make my face breakout more. I used my Clarisonic (review here) and my new favorite cleanser, La Roche Posay Effaclar Foaming Gel. This one has a pH of 5.5 which I find helps keep the oil at bay better than a neutral cleanser. Also, La Roche Posay is very gentle for sensitive skin so this helps to leave my skin feeling fresh and soothed.

I also like to exfoliate my face a couple times a week. I’ll use the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant every second day and the Aveeno Fresh Essentials Exfoliating Scrub (review here). Both are very gentle so they won’t irritate. The Dermalogica Microfoliant is a fine-milled powder so you could even use this one daily if you desire.

As for moisturizer, I’ve really been enjoying the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (review here). I’ve done a whole long review on this on my blog but long story short, this one does a very nice job at moisturizing my face without being too oily and making me breakout.

For acne treatments, I use one from my dermatologist. I find that over the counter products just don’t cut it, so definitely see what your dermatologist recommends for you! I also use the Neutrogena Sore Pimple Gel. As gross as this sounds, when you have a painful breakout, this gel is super effective at “freezing” it and calming it. It’s a lifesaver sometimes!

Face masks are definitely a bonus in my routine. The Cupcake Fresh Face Mask from Lush is one of my favorites. (review here) I also love using the Sisley Creamy Mask with Tropical Resins just on my breakouts over night so it can dry them out.

As for eye products, I don’t use much but I use this Annabelle eye makeup remover to take off all my eye makeup. I used to not be a huge fan of makeup remover but this one is amazing! I received this from Shoppers Drug Mart and I am so impressed with it! It has a cool pump which makes it super handy to use and the formula, which contains Cucumber, is absolutely amazing! I also use this Aveeno Fresh Essentials eye roller (review here) underneath my eyes to diminish any bags and wake me up!

So, that’s my routine! I know that it’s a quite a lengthy process but I believe each and every product plays a very important role in helping my skin not suck as much. (Is that the right way to say it? Yes.)
