  • Recently my friend and I took a road trip to Calgary over winter break. You might be wondering why we decided to drive down to a city that is almost identical to Edmonton. Shopping is the only difference. Yes, that’s right, we drove three hours just to go shopping. Edmonton and Calgary used to have many of the same stores with little variety between the two, however they recently opened up the first Nordstrom in Canada so if that’s not a good enough excuse to go shopping in Calgary, I don’t know what is. We also love the Topshop in Calgary, it’s so big, where as ours is just a little section in The Bay. If you’re not Canadian, I’m sure you have no idea what I’m talking about. Long story short, the shopping was absolutely wonderful.

The first thing I bought in Calgary was this sweater from Oak and Fort. We have an Oak and Fort in Edmonton but as soon as I saw the store in Chinook Centre, I knew I had to stop in. I absolutely love the high neck of this sweater. Because it’s cropped, I also paired a simple black button down shirt underneath. I love the look of the layers peeking out.I also bought a couple of items in Topshop. I feel like Topshop is famous for their jeans and I’ve always wanted the ones with the simple rips in the knees. So when I saw these high waisted Leigh jeans in a dark burgundy colour on sale, I was way too happy. It doesn’t take much to please me.

For boots, I recently got these ones at Town Shoes. I’ve had a gift card to Town Shoes sitting in my wallet for the longest time and I’m pleased to announce that I finally found a pair of boots that I liked. Funny story about these boots: I’m convinced they are part of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Boots. So I am a size 7. My two other friends are a size 8 and a size 8.5. Yet, the 8.5 fit us all perfectly. Mine don’t feel big at all like you’d expect. So we each bought the same pair of boots in the same size. If that’s not friendship, I don’t know what is.

You might also be noticing that I’m wearing a new watch today. I have been wanting a new Marc Jacobs watch for quite some time now. I originally wanted the Marc Jacobs Baker style (which I definitely still have my eye on), however when I saw this watch in Calgary at Cross Iron Mills outlet mall, I thought it was so unique and my heart would not let me pass it up. My heart has good taste in watches. It’s a gunmetal link band with a larger face and rose gold accents. It’s so unique and beautiful. After I bought it, I also bought this ring at Oak and Fort because it matched so nicely. I’ve really been loving the look of gunmetal lately.

Last but certainly not least, the final addition to my outfit are these gorgeous sunglasses. As my Marc Jacobs collection has been growing, I have noticing the absence of the perfect pair of Marc sunglasses. I have an obsession with the designer. Anyways, the one thing that my parents have always preached is to take care of my eyes and wear sunglasses when it’s sunny. However, when you live in Edmonton and it’s winter for three quarters of the year, I felt the need to get a pair of sunglasses that suited the winter weather more. Aviators just scream summer. So, I found these gorgeous black Marc Jacobs sunglasses. I think they’re so simple, yet chic. They’re absolutely perfect.

This was a really long post today. I’m just way too excited about all of my new finds. What can I say? Clothes make me happy and I am totally fine in admitting that.
