  • Who I Want To Be When I’m Older

There’s always been quite a few people in the fashion industry that I’ve aspired to be. To name a few, Lauren Conrad, the Olsen twins, Olivia Palermo have always been in the list of potential role models. However all of these ladies are only a little older than me. They’re more or less a part of my generation. But one lady who I have always admired for their career is Anna Dello Russo. I’m sure most of you are aware of this amazing women and her accomplishments but for those who don’t know, she is the editor of Vogue Japan. Now, just being the editor of Vogue Japan would be my dream come true, but this lady is so much more than that. Her style is impeccable and oh, did I mention she’s 53 years old? Yes, 53 years old and a style icon. 53 years old and she’s still as obsessed and in love with fashion as she was when she was a teenagers. She’s built her whole career, her whole life around style.

She is also an avid collector of clothes and accessories. She has a whole other apartment to use as a closet. Plus, she has over 4000 pairs of shoes. Now that is living the dream. Anna Dello Russo is probably most known for wearing clothes straight off the runway. (Check out Who What Wear’s post on the 31 Times Anna Dello Russo Wore It Better Than A Model.) When I was younger, I was so confused about her style. Before I knew what runway style was, before I realized the beauty of high fashion, I thought she was just insane. Now I admire her love for designers’ looks and her outlandish, eccentric outfits. She truly appreciates the designers’ vision and inspiration.

So that’s Anna Dello Russo. Somebody that has changed the fashion world, and quite possibly the spectrum outside of that as well. I hope one day, I can achieve just a fraction of what she has. I’ve always been hesitant to start a career in fashion. Throughout university, I have avoided the thought of it. It seemed too risky. I went into the faculty of Science, the furthest thing away from fashion, the safest thing. But now that I’ve finally landed in the faculty where I think I belong, in Business, maybe fate will lead me down the path of fashion. I will never pursue fashion and style directly. But if my career somehow takes me there, then I won’t deny it. I won’t deny it at all.
