  • The Manhattan Skyline

I don’t think the Manhattan skyline could ever grow old. I always thought the Edmonton River Valley skyline was super pretty but nothing compares to New York. On our second day in New York, Megan and I went to the cutest food market down in East River State Park. Little did we know that it was right by the water and would have the most perfect view of Manhattan. It was absolutely gorgeous. Just look at Empire State Building in the distance. My heart beats a little faster whenever I see it.

It was very rainy and foggy this day so I’m very glad that I dressed in layers. I wore my ripped white jeans because these were the only pair of pants I brought with me, oops. I figured they were the most suitable choice for a rainy day over a skirt or a dress. I paired a cropped green tee with them and of course wore my longline flannel overtop. I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve worn this flannel. Even though it was so hot in New York most of the days I was there, I was so glad to have this flannel. It’s one of the comfiest things I own, but it also compliments so many outfits. It’s a great, great, great piece. Did I mention that it’s great?

For shoes I wore my Nike Roshe sneakers. I love these shoes way too much and they’re the perfect New York walking shoe. For my bag, I carried a huge tote bag. You might be wondering why I didn’t carry something more practical like a smaller crossbody purse. Well, let me tell you why. I needed something that I could fit my camera in. Obviously I wanted to bring my camera around with me all day but I didn’t want to have to carry it in it’s dorky camera bag (I have to look like a real New Yorker y’know), so alas, this tote seemed like the most suitable choice. It safely housed my camera, water bottle, sunglasses and wallet. It was a great choice. Plus it’s super lightweight so even when it did get heavy with the camera in it, it wasn’t unbearable. It held up remarkably well throughout the whole trip. Good job tote!

My heart hurts a bit writing this post and looking at the beautiful skyline. I’ve never missed a city so much.
