  • Shoppers Drug Mart is probably one of my favorite stores ever and I’m totally not biased just because I work there. One of the things that make them the best is their Optimum Points loyalty card. You collect 10 points for ever dollar spent and especially on days like 20x the points, those points add up super quick. After waiting for quite a while, I had managed to rack up 150,000 points which was equivalent to $255 off my next purchase. And even better, because I am an employee at Shoppers, I get my discount with that as well so technically I had over $330 of free products.
I sat with these points on my optimum card for quite a while, trying to decide what to buy with them. It wasn’t until my friends and I planned a trip to Canmore that I knew what I was going to spend these points on. In Calgary’s Chinook Mall, there is a deluxe Beauty Boutique in the Shoppers Drug Mart. This Beauty Boutique is like no other. It has about double the amount of brands as mine. But the best part? This Beauty Boutique carries Chanel. Chanel makeup with my employee discount? Yes please. I think I spent almost an hour in this store trying to decide what to buy. Sorry friends! I decided to only spend 50,000 of my points, which was $85 off (technically $110 with my discount) and got four of my favorite products ever.

Benefit Dallas Blush (buy here)– I have been wanting this blush probably since I started working at Shoppers. But, for some reason, I just never went for it. I always made excuses telling myself I had too much makeup so alas, it was never bought. However, what better reasoning did I have for buying it than that it would be free? I’m so glad I bought it. It’s the perfect bronzey mauve colour. It’s so universal and natural looking but really warms up your face. It’s gorgeous. It is kind of a combination between a blush and a bronzer.

Clarisonic Luxe Satin Precision Contour Brush Head (buyhere)– I can’t even begin to say how excited I was for this brush head. I couldn’t get my hands on it at any Shoppers in Edmonton. I knew that they sold it in the Calgary Beauty Boutique but it was always sold out. However, this time, it was in stock! I was a little bit scared that this brush would be too soft for my face because of the cashmere bristles but my face has never felt better after using it! The dual-layer design thoroughly cleanses delicate and contoured areas of the face and even helps to increase skin’s hydration levels! It’s so relaxing on my face. It’s like brushing a puppy over your face. That’s so weird. Okay bye.

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in 424 Edith (buy here)– Oh my God. Yes. I did it. I bought my first Chanel lipstick. Inside the store, I kept going back and forth between deciding on whether to buy a lipstick. Did I really want to spend $42 on a lipstick when I had a million others waiting for me at home? But, at the end of the day, it would be free so why not treat myself? It took me forever to pick a colour, but I am very confident I chose the best colour for me. It’s the perfect every day shade for every season. I could see myself wearing this lipstick everyday and i probably will. This lipstick is in the shade #424 Edith and is part of the Rouge Coco line which promises an ultra hydrating lip colour. They’re definitely not wrong. I didn’t know what to expect with a Chanel lipstick. Afterall, how different could they be from any other lipstick? But this one is definitely something special. It’s such a glossy moisturizing formula which stays forever on the lips and feels absolutely amazing! I definitely don’t regret this purchase!

Quo Back to Basics Eyeshadow in Sand (similar here)– To complete my $85 of points spending, I grabbed this Quo eyeshadow. I have been eyeing this eyeshadow at my own Shoppers for quite awhile ever since it arrived in stores a couple of weeks ago. It’s part of the new Quo Back to Basics eyeshadow collection, which consists of about 7 single eyeshadows that are all matte and absolutely beautiful. This colour is my favorite one though. It’s a light taupe that is the essential shade for using in the crease. Pair it with a light matte champagne colour across the lid and you’re good to go!

I am so happy with all of these products. I don’t think I’ve been this excited about makeup in a long time, so that’s definitely saying something! I can’t wait to spend the rest of my points just as soon as I figure out what else I need in my makeup collection!
