  • The Best of Both Worlds: Blazer Capes

I love capes. And yet, I’ve never owned a cape. The closest I’ve come is a poncho I got in grade six. It was army green and adorable. I miss that thing. But the problem is, capes seem rather impractical. They limit the use of your arms and it’s almost entirely impossible to wear a backpack with them. But, when these blazer-like capes started hitting the shelves of stores, I fell in love. They’re kinda odd but I kinda like that. Plus, they can be dressed up or down which is super handy now that I need more business clothes in my closet!

Boohoo recently launch a whole bunch of blazer capes (or are they called cape blazers?) in some really pretty colours. I chose this pale grey one in a crepe fabric. I thought it would look a lot more high quality than their cotton blazer capes and I was right. I was super excited to receive this cape in the mail, however when I did, I was suddenly at a loss for ideas on how to style it. But inspiration suddenly hit!

Today I paired it with a white tank top from Zara. I think only sleeveless tops work well with a blazer cape. For pants, I added in a bit of colour with these printed trousers from Vero Moda because after all, it’s Spring Summer and that calls for lots and lots of patterns and colour! For shoes, I wanted to dress up the outfit a tiny bit so I opted for these nude block heel sandals and added minimal accessories. Last but not least, my pink purse added one more much-needed pop of colour!
