  • Dry Shampoo Comparison

Dry shampoos have taken over my life. They are the one thing that have the power to save me time in the morning when I’m running late for school or work. They can transform my hair from a greasy mess to a not-so-greasy mess. They are seriously a miracle in the bottle. However, not all are amazing! Here are some of my favorites that I keep repurchasing and some that I now avoid at all times.

Batiste XXL Dry Shampoo ★★★☆☆ – Batiste is the first dry shampoo brand I ever tried. When you think of dry shampoo, you think of Batiste, right? So, it should be good, right? Wrong. I was not a fan of any of Batiste’s dry shampoo. The only that even came close to my consideration of repurchasing it was the Batiste XXL Volume formula. Now don’t get me wrong, this one definitely helps absorb all oils in your hair and provides a TON of volume, but the white powder residue is impossible to get out. Whenever I use this, I either have a grey cast to my hair or white specks in it. It’s way too much of a pain to continue using it.

Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo ★★★★★ – This one is my absolute favorite and it was recently on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $2.99. How can you pass that up? This one is a white powder, but it easily absorbs and you can’t see ANY of the residue. It’s hassle-free! Plus, it doesn’t feel like I have any dry shampoo in my hair at all. It’s the one dry shampoo that I have tried that genuinely makes my hair feel cleaner without washing it. The only thing that I don’t like about this one is the scent. It is so overpowering and people often mistake it for my perfume.

Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo ★★☆☆☆ – I picked this one up when it was on sale for $1.99 and I was so tempted to try it. I thought I would really like this one because it is a clear formula, no white powder at all! However, because of the absence of the powder, it really doesn’t help to absorb any of the oils in your hair. It’s good for a quick refresh the day after you wash your hair, but if you really want your hair to feel clean, this is not the one for you.

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo ★★★★☆ – I was in New York when I picked this one up and was in desperate need of a dry shampoo. I just picked up the little trial size and it indeed made my hair look great for my whole trip. However due to the tiny size, it really only lasted me for those 6 days in New York. And because of the price for a full size (C$29), I have never considered purchasing it again. But if you have money to spend, it is definitely not a bad dry shampoo!
