  • Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics

You know what might just be the cutest thing? When a boy buys you makeup. I can’t even begin to imagine how similar most makeup must look to a guy’s eyes and yet, they can still remember what palette you’ve been lusting over. I don’t know why it makes my heart all warm and fuzzy inside, but it just does. Maybe I’m exaggerating, who knows. I need to give men more credit.

So, this Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette has been on my wishlist ever since it came out six months ago. I have one of the original Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palettes and it’s definitely gotten some love over the years. It’s my go-to matte, neutral palette and I absolutely love the formula of the shadows. Matte eyeshadows are always a hit or miss from different brands. They can be chalky, patchy, and just downright not pigmented. However, Urban Decay really does excel at their mattes so I knew this new Naked Ultimate Basics palette would be perfect for my liking. The shadows are so darn velvety and buttery. It’s crazy.

The palette includes twelve shades ranging from light creamy shades to a few pops of (neutral) colour and dark crease and liner shades. The colour selection is superb. At first I was a little worried that there wouldn’t be pale enough shades to use as highlighting/all-over lid colours, but the two far left shades (top and bottom) are definitely more than suitable. However, my two favorite shades in the palette has to be Extra Bitter which is a burnt orange, AKA my colour of the year and Instinct which is a mauvey-taupe and looks so gorgeous blended into the crease. In addition to the shadows, this palette also includes a brush which is always one of my favorite things when they don’t suck. And this one doesn’t suck. It’s a dual-ended with a flat shader type brush on one end and a shorter, smudger brush on the other, which is perfect for lining some shadow on your bottom lash line.

I never got the chance to wish you all a happy holidays so I hope you’re enjoying time with family and having a lovely break from school or work. Let’s get pumped for 2017 y’all.
