  • Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess 2018

I feel like one of the first signs of summer is when Estée Lauder releases their Bronze Goddess collection for the season. Between their Bronze Goddess fragrance and infamous bronzers, the whole Bronze Goddess line has been a classic for Estée Lauder for years. But guys, they outdid themselves with this limited edition collection this summer.

Let’s start with the Bronze GoddessIlluminating Powder Gelée ($58CAD/$47USD). They got everything right with this highlighter. Although it’s described as a“seductive allover bronzer”, this product couldn’t be further away from your typical bronzer. It’s definitely more of a highlighter in my opinion. The formula is quite different from a normal powder (hence the name: powder gelée). It’s more of a super creamy powder formula (think Colourpop Super Shock Shadows texture).

This product is a bit misleading at first, in more ways than one. Not only is it labelled a bronzer, but it also has a thick overcoat of glitter. And because of that, when you first swatch and apply this highlighter, you get an overly intense glow. There are flecks of glitter everywhere. However, that strong glitter look makes it perfect for using on your body – shoulders or décolletage. It will give you that perfect sun-kissed glow! And then, when you’ve broken through that initial layer of glitter, you are left with the most gorgeous, creamy champagne gold highlight underneath, absolutely perfect for applying on your face. It’s definitely a buildable highlight because it’s such a creamy texture. If you apply it with a sparse duo-fibre highlighter brush, you will get a subtle glow but if you apply it with your fingers or a more dense brush, you will really get that strong strobing look on your cheekbones! I love it! And can we just talk about the packaging for a second? Rose gold with a little turquoise knob? It’s stunning and it just screams summer.

The other product in the Bronze Goddess line I got to try out is the Cooling Body Gelée ($58CAD/$45USD). I really did not expect to like this as much as I do. I hate putting on body lotions or creams. I find them heavy and sticky and I don’t have overly dry skin on my body so I just don’t see the use for them. But this body gelée is so much different from your ordinary lotion. First of all, it’s extremely lightweight since it’s more of that jelly/gel texture. Because of the texture, it absorbs so quickly into the skin. I honestly can’t even feel this on my body. No stickiness anywhere, it’s lovely. And it actually has a cooling feeling once it’s applied to the skin so it’s super hydrating and refreshing. This product would be absolutely wonderful for applying after a day in the sun to soothe any burns or sensitive skin or just cool down on a hot day! And last but not least, it has the classic Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche fragrance scent to it so you’re going to be smelling like a tropical vacation wherever you go.
