  • Five Underrated Foundations

So you know how there are foundations that everyone talks about? I’m talking ones like Estee Lauder Doublewear, Revlon Colorstay, Fenty Pro Filt’r, Makeup Forever HD, Too Faced Born This Way, just to name a few. Well I’m here to give some praise to the underdogs. The foundations that are so low-key amazing but nobody gives any credit to me. Me and those underrated foundations have quite a lot in common. So here are my favorite foundations that don’t get talked about nearly enough!

    Clinique Even Better Foundation ($29USD/$36CAD)

I was talking to a Clinique Rep a few weeks ago and she asked me why exactly I liked this foundation and I said“It’s so easy. I use it when I don’t feel like putting anything else on my face”. And as badly worded as that is, it’s true. This is the foundation I put on when I don’t want anything fussy. It’s so simple. It’s a medium coverage, natural finish, super easy to blend and looks like skin instead of makeup. It’s easy. That’s all I can say. Plus it helps to even out skin tone and fade dark spots (AKA my acne marks) over time which is a huge plus in my books! And their shade range is amazing!

    Guerlain Baby Glow($54USD/$65CAD)

I have used this foundation for years. (I actually posted a review of it THREE years ago) Usually when I use a foundation for that long, I get sick of it. I rarely still like a foundation now that I used more than a couple of years ago. But this one will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s a mix between a BB cream and a foundation with medium coverage and a radiant finish. As it’s name suggests, it really does give your skin that“baby glow”. Who doesn’t want that?

    The Ordinary Serum Foundation ($6.70USD/$6.70CAD)

This is a newer foundation in my life but it’s one I couldn’t live without (a bit dramatic, but accurate nonetheless). So here’s the thing: I don’t like this foundation on it’s own. It’s extremely thin and I find it doesn’t settle onto my skin well. BUT this is the perfectfoundation to mix with others. It has the power to transform the most mediocre foundation into an amazing one. Because it’s so thin, it makes any foundation more lightweight while still maintaining the amount of coverage. Plus, this foundation is a tad too light for me (which is a miracle) so I can mix it with any dark foundation to lighten it up to suit my pasty skin!

    L’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow($12.99USD/$14.99CAD)

This is the one and only drugstore foundation I use on a regular basis. It’s amazing. It gives your skin the most beautiful radiant glow. Usually if it’s a more illuminating foundation, it does one of two things. Either it’s not long wearing or it’s minimum coverage. However this foundation is neither of those things. It’s extremely long wearing and I find it doesn’t slip off my skin throughout the day (even without a primer)! And it’s a full coverage foundation without looking cakey or heavy on the skin! It’s beautiful.

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Aqua Nude($49USD/$61CAD)

I can’t believe there was ever a day I thought I wouldn’t like this foundation. This is another one of those foundations that are so unbelievably lightweight yet gives such a good amount of coverage. It’s not full coverage by any means but I find that it covers everything I need it to. Pimples and all. Like it’s name suggests, it’s so liquidy, it’s like water (aka AQUA Nude). It feels so light and beautiful on the skin yet it’s still really long lasting! That makes for a really good combination y’all.
