  • Laneige Water Bank Dual Layer Face Oil

In the past couple of months, I’ve fallen head over heels in love with Laneige. The K-Beauty brand has changed my views on what I like in my skincare and I’ve quickly claimed some of Laneige’s products as my holy grail skincare routine. It started out with me trying Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask (review here) and once it completely revamped my lips, I was sold on the brand and since then, I’ve tried out a multitude of their other products including the Water Bank Essence and the Water Bank Moisture Cream (review here). The Water Bank product line-up features optimumHydro Ionized Mineral Water to offer quicker and deeper absorption for better overall moisturization. And as you all probably know by now, Alberta is definitely not a humid climate by any means, so if there’s one thing my skin needs, it’s hydration.

As part of this unique Water Bank range, Laneige recently introduced the new Water Bank Dual Layer Face Oil ($38USD/$49CAD) which I couldn’t wait to try out! I used to be under the assumption that because i had such acne-prone skin, an oil was the last thing my skin needed. However, I’ve learned over the years that the opposite is actually true. My skin reacts very positively to oils and it’s that moisture and nutrients that my skin so greatly craves. The Water Bank Dual Layer Face Oil is different from a typical oil however because it’s not just a pure oil. Like it’s name suggests, it’s actuallya blend of Hydro Ionized Mineral Water and a mix of skin-friendly oils – hence the name Dual Layer. There arelittle crystal droplets that are made of moisture and oil and provide the effect of pushing moisture into skin and sealing it all in. The result is that your skin is instantly moisturized and staysmoisturized for hours and hours.

Because this face oil is essentially half water and half oil, I love the way it feels on my skin. It’s not thick or greasy like I’m used to when I’m applying a pure oil but it still delivers this wave of moisture and nourishment in my skin. It’s also incredibly fast absorbing so I’m able to apply my face cream immediately after without feeling like I have ten layers of product on my skin. Essentially the water (smaller molecule) is absorbed deep into the layers of the skin while the oil (bigger molecule) sits on top, sealing the moisture in and providing nourishment to the top layer of the skin! To apply the oil, I shake the bottle well to mix the dual layer together and then I dispense four to five drops into my hand. I then pat and press the oil into my skin for easy and quick absorption. I am then left with glowing and moisturized skin! Hurrah!
