  • Do I Love Winter?

Ahhh, winter. How I love you. How I love stepping outside and freezing my face off. How I love stomping through the snow and slipping on the ice, almost dying on my way to the bus stop every morning. How I love being forced to wear a million layers every single day. How I love being cold 24/7. I just love winter. It’s full of so many damn good things.

And to show exactly how much I love winter, I wore the least wintery jeans I could find. Makes sense, right? So, if you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I have a slight obsession with Citizens of Humanity jeans. They seem to be the only jeans that fit me well because unfortunately I’m lacking a bum and most jeans highlight the fact that I have no junk in the trunk. Am I allowed to say that on ze blog? Oh well, it’s true. But even though Citizens fit me so well, they are just so damn expensive. $350 for a pair of jeans?? Who pays that?! Definitely not me. I own TEN pairs of Citizens now yet I have never paid full price for a pair of their jeans. That is quite the accomplishment.

But the pair I’m wearing today is definitely the best deal I’ve ever gotten on Citizens of Humanity. If you’re lucky, you can usually find a pair of Citizens at Marshalls or Winners here in Canada (or TJ Maxx in the states) for $99. Usually they’re an old style from a couple of years ago and ain’t very cute. But once again, if you’re lucky, they are a more recent style and are super duper cute. I was scouring the racks a couple weeks ago at Marshalls (the new one at the airport outlet mall in Edmonton) and I was just about to leave when this pair of jeans caught my eye. I love a good floral embroidery and sure enough, when I took a closer look, they turned out to be Citizens. And they were my size! It was fate! But the best part was when I turned the tag over and they were on clearance for $28. Twenty eight dollars. For Citizens. That is a steal, y’all.

These Citizens are a style I haven’t tried before. They are called the Emerson which is a slim, mid-rise boyfriend fit. I always love a more relaxed, straight leg jean but I was uncertain about the mid rise. I always go for high rise so even these feel like a low rise jean to me. But regardless, they are super cute. They are the premium vintage collection from Citizens of Humanity so they’re very good quality and have such a soft, worn fit to them. Plus the floral embroidery is so adorable and I can’t wait to wear them in the spring and summer. They are definitely not winter jeans but I had to wear them at least once before I put them away for the rest of the season.

For the rest of my outfit, I wore a cozy brushed knit turtleneck from Forever 21 with my favorite sheepskin and suede coat overtop from Zara. This coat is so cozy and warm and I always love the look of cream on a snowy day. To add a little bit more colour into the outfit and pick up some of the floral embroidery on the jeans, I wore my mustard yellow crossbody purse from Topshop (that I definitely forgot about oops). So here’s to counting down to summer for when I can wear these jeans again, whoohoo!
