March 2019

  • The Month of Cheetah Continues…

I definitely wasn’t kidding in my last OOTD when I said that March was the month of cheetah print. To date, I have now done four outfit posts featuring the glorious patterns of cheetah and/or leopard and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon. I go through these weird obsessions. First, it was dusty rose where I only wore that beigey pink shade for years. Then, that obsession moved on to mustard yellow. That obsession is still very real but it’s slowly fading away now that I have moved on to cheetah print. But I ain’t mad about it. Dusty rose, mustard and cheetah print are the only things I need in my closet (even thought none of those three should be worn together, oops).

The pop of cheetah in today’s OOTD comes in the form of these cheetah print jeans. Now, before I found these pants, I had no plans on ever buying a pair of cheetah print pants. They just sound like atrocious to me. The epitome of ratchet and tacky, really. However, I stumbled across these jeans at Zara during their semi annual sale and they immediately captured my eye. There was just something about them that I was drawn to. They have a straight leg fit with the slightest flair at the bottom. They are a mid rise with a button fly and a cropped leg that hits at the perfect point when I’m wearing ankle boots. Oh, and I got them for $9.99. They might just be the perfect pair of jeans. They just happen to be cheetah print. What can ya do.

As with any other cheetah outfit, I tried to keep the rest of the look neutral so I wouldn’t look like a crazy gal. I’m wearing one of my favorite t-shirts from Kotn. I will talk more about the company in another OOTD post but for now, here’s what you need to know. Kotn makes the most perfect cotton t-shirts out of genuine Egyptian cotton that is ethically sourced. I am so damn picky about white t-shirts. They need to have the perfect weight (i.e not too see-through), shape (slightly boxy), and fit (fitted in the arms but loose in the body with a slightly cropped hem). And Kotn has come closer to those traits than any other brand. They have the cutest Kotn store in Gastown in Vancouver (oh, and Toronto) so I would check them out ASAP if you live there. Ship me a t-shirt while you’re at it. Thanks so much.

For the rest of my outfit, I am wearing my favorite boots from Marc Fisher. And yes, I am still hunting for these in black with no success. The closest I’ve come is a pair at The Bay, but they’re $290 and I really don’t want to spend that much. But I might have to. If you see them in an outfit post later this year, you will know I have now gone broke, whoops. I’m wearing my corduroy moto jacket from Noul overtop that I completely forgot about. I was going to wear a leather jacket with this look instead but I realized leather and cheetah print might be a lil’ over the top. Then again, anything paired with cheetah print is over the top. I guess I’m just an over the top kind of gal. Yup, no truer words have ever been spoken.
