  • Pastels for Easter? Groundbreaking.

There is something about spring style that just makes me so happy. It’s not too warm and it’s definitely not too cold. I love stepping outside in only a t-shirt and a light jacket and not having to layer a huge coat overtop like I normally would for six months out of the year in Edmonton. Easter is coming up this weekend and I feel like this couldn’t be a more perfect outfit for the holiday. When I think of Easter, I always think of pastels and although this blazer isn’t quite pastel yellow, it’s close enough.

I picked this blazer up back in January and I’ve been itching for a chance to wear it. As soon as the first day of warmer weather came around, I immediately pulled it out of my closet. This is the Cherrelle blazer from Aritzia (in the cairo gold colour) and it’s an essential in anyone’s closet. It has an oversized fit but because the fabric is a drapey crepe, it doesn’t have an unflattering boxy fit. It just so happens I also have a special place in my heart for double breasted buttons so I was very pleased about that as well. Because it has that cool girl, oversized look, it’s such an easy piece to dress up or down. I can pair it with distressed jeans like in this outfit for that super casual look or I can pair it with a pretty blouse and dress pants and make it suitable for work! I love blazers (or other clothes for that matter) that I can wear with virtually anything!

So as I mentioned, I definitely dressed down the blazer today with this look. I tucked in a plain white tee from Kotn (my FAVORITE white t-shirts EVER) into these straight leg Citizens of Humanity Liya jeans. Have I talked about Kotn tees on the blog before? I don’t remember but just in case I haven’t, there’s a few reasons why I love them so much. First of all, it’s made with ethically sourced Egyption cotton which is finer, softer, and more breathable than any other cotton. And you can tell. The fabric of this t-shirt is so much nicer than any other tee that I own. Plus it has the perfect fit and has everything I look for in a white tee. It has a high crew neck with a slightly boxy fit and not too long in the body. But best of all, it’s not see-through. And that’s getting harder and harder to find in a white t-shirt. Before I found out about Kotn, I use to dream about creating a brand that only made perfect white t-shirts because they’re that hard to find. But luckily, I didn’t have to go through all that hard work because Kotn beat me to it. Thank you.

To add a little more interest into the outfit, I wore a pair of boots that I’ve been dying to wear all winter. But if one thing doesn’t mix, it’s snow and suede. That’s a recipe for disaster. These boots are from Zara and they remind me a little of the Chloe Susanna boots (that I will never let myself buy). They’re a beige suede with gold studs all over and a couple of gold buckles. They’re such a statement boot and so so so pretty. I remember them being quite pricey seeing as they’re real suede but I was able to get them on an amazing clearance price for only $40! God, I love a good deal. Especially when it’s something I’ve had my eyes on for months.
