If I remember correctly (I have a horribly memory but luckily I have my blog as backup storage for my brain), MaskerAide were the first sheet masks I ever discovered. I first tried the MaskerAide masks FIVE years ago (check out my OG review here) and they were probably what started my whole masking obsession. Believe it or not, sheet masks weren’t this big thing half a decade ago. They were gaining traction over in Asia but they hadn’t made their way to North America quite yet. Cream and clay masks were the more mainstream form of masking. And now, a short five years later, sheet masks are taking over the skincare world.
And because MaskerAide are some of the OG sheet masks, they recently revamped their packaging for a fresh new look but still featuring the same cute drawings that made me fall in love with the company in the first place. MaskerAide has four different masks in their Hydrating Sheet Mask range: Beauty Rest’ore, Pre Party Prep, Detox Diva, and I Don’t Wanna Grow Up ($6.00CAD/$4.50USD), all designed to have a different effect on the skin in addition to being incredibly hydrating.
Beauty Rest’ore is a sheet mask designed to nourish and relax. It contains lavender oil, aloe leaf and Hyaluronic Acid that deeply moisturizes the skin and while minimizing the appearance of skin imperfections like pores and pimples. Pre Party Prep is a brightening and priming sheet mask. Orange peel oil, rice and tomato help to reduce any dark spots, brighten the skin and helps to improve skin elasticity. Detox Diva is an exfoliating sheet mask with lemon, green tea and cactus extract. It controls oil as well as minimizes the appearance of pores and gently exfoliates the dead skin on your face. Last is the I Don’t Wanna Grow Up (fitting for a blog called When I’m Older) that helps to firm and soften lines with chamomile, collagen and argan oil. It helps to plump up the skin while also giving a youthful glow!
I love to do a sheet mask every couple of days (I strive for 2-3 times a week but life often gets in the way). You can leave them on for anywhere between 10-20 minutes although I almost always leave them on for the full twenty minutes to make it feel like my skin is soaking up every last drop of the serum. After the 20 minutes are up and the mask is removed and discarded, I love patting the excess serum onto my face and neck. I always like to think sheet masks are a full skincare routine all in one little packet (even though you still need a seperate cleanser, moisturizer and eye cream of course). Each of the four sheet masks are suitable for all skin types so try all four or just pick the one that addresses your main skin concern!
