Every year I make it my mission to wear more skirts and dresses in the summer but every year, I fail miserably and my skirts to pants ratio does not increase dramatically. But don’t give up on your dreams, kiddos because this is the year where I actually accomplish my goal. It’s going to happen. And it’s off to a good start. Since summer started, I bought two new skirts AND two new dresses. That’s quite the accomplishment.
I really love wearing skirts to work. They’re so comfy and breezy on hot summer days and a thousand times better than dress pants. Don’t even try to argue that with me. Anyways I picked this skirt up at Simons (when it was on clearance for only $19.99) and I couldn’t be more obsessed with it. It’s a grey and black snakeskin print and I gotta say, I love snakeskin a lot more than I ever expected. I thought cheetah print was my ride-or-die (see example here) but snakeskin is giving me a run for my money. I just really love any kind of animal/reptile print. I had my eye on a zebra printed skirt at Topshop today so don’t be surprised if I show up in a head-to-toe zebra print OOTD next week on ze blog. It’s gonna happen.

So I originally wore this outfit to work with a pair of Adidas Sleek sneakers. I thought it was a super cute outfit that was like casual with the sneakers but also business with the long midi skirt. I thought it worked. Except I was told, by one of my coworkers, that I looked like a mennonite. But that ain’t stopping my love of skirts. I will continue to wear this one and all my other skirts (just maybe rethink wearing them with sneakers).
As I’ve said before on ze blog, most of my work outfits consist of wearing a blazer with a white t-shirt underneath. It’s especially essential for summer because there’s not too many layers and I don’t sweat in the cotton unlike polyester and silks. Plus it’s that perfect combination of business casual (our office dresses more on the casual side in the summer). I absolutely love the blazer I’m wearing today. I actually have it in two colours, this blueish grey as well as a burnt rusty red. I love the colour of this one. It adds some colour into my outfit while still almost being a neutral. It’s gorgeous.
