Oui Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum notes and review

It’s been a hot minute since I last feature a fragrance on ze blog. But there’s a reason for that and it’s not because I don’t wear perfume. I wear perfume every single day without fail. The real reason I don’t talk about fragrances much on ze blog is that I’m horrible at describing them. There’s really no way that I can describe this perfume in a way that is going to make you feel like you’re right here beside me smelling it. But, I’m gonna try. I’m gonna try my darn hardest.

So, this is Oui by Juicy Couture ($105USD/$119CAD). It’s an Eau de Parfum and like every other Juicy Couture fragrance ever, it’s in a very extra bottle and I’m living for it. The scent is encased in a hot pink and red jeweled bottle with a flashy acrylic diamond as a lid and a big ol’ gangsta chain around the neck of the bottle reading “Oui Juicy Couture”. Yes, I repeat, very extra. Juicy Couture has always rode that fine line between tacky and perfectly girly and I always love seeing what they come up with next.

Ah and now we come to my favorite part of the post where I try (and miserably fail) to describe the scent. Let’s start with the easy part: the facts. The top notes are watermelon, acai and pear. The middle notes are jasmine, wild tuberose and honeysuckle. The bottom notes are amber resin, Techno Woods (whatever that means) and musk. Now, that we know what’s in the fragrance, let’s subjectively talk about what it actually smells like.

I have to admit I was a little surprised when I first smelled this scent. I am used to Juicy Couture’s overly sweet scents (like Viva La Juicy Noir) so I was shocked when Oui was not like that. Now, don’t get me wrong. To any other person, Oui probably smells extremely sweet. But I am a twelve year old whose ultimate goal is to smell like candy at all times so when I smelled this fragrance and didn’t automatically think of a lollipop, I was a little caught off guard. It’s definitely more on the fruity side (because of the watermelon, acai and pear. It’s light and refreshing and the floral notes in it (from the jasmine and honeysuckle) stop it from smelling like a jacked up fruit punch. Was my description acceptable? Are you running out to buy this fragrance now? No? Oh. Well I hope you at least stop to smell it next time you’re in a Sephora or The Bay or Shoppers Drug Mart (or wherever you Americans shop) because it’s quite a nice scent.
