Why can’t fall just last forever? It seems like it’s here one day and gone the next. All of the leaves change to pretty colours and then within a week, they are all on the ground and there is snow everywhere. Am I jinxing it by saying that? Am I going to wake up tomorrow and there will be snow on the ground? Probably. I will just start pulling my parka and Uggs out of storage now. I’m ready for you, winter.
Because Winter is fast approaching (I tried not to cry as I typed that), I knew I needed to get some new clothes. “Knew”. “Needed”. That might have been a bit of an exaggeration. Okay fine, I wanted to get some new clothes. So, I went to Aritzia aaaaaand I did something really, really bad. Here’s a word of advice for all y’all. Never, and I repeat, NEVER go shopping when you’re feeling sad. I was having a really bad week last month and I figured the only way to turn it around was by spending way too much money at Aritzia on clothes I probably (read: definitely) didn’t need. I’m honestly shocked at how much I spent. I don’t know who I think I am. But I will tell you this. It did help. After I spent my whole monthly salary at Aritzia (I’m being a lil’ dramatic), I actually felt much, much better. Money can’t buy you happiness, but sometimes it serves as a distraction and I was very grateful for it in that moment. I’m not saying you should always look towards material things for happiness but every once in the while, it’s not the worst thing to do. Is that fair to say?
So what did I buy during my shopping spree at Aritzia? Definitely not the whole store because that shit’s expensive. WHY does Aritzia have to be so expensive. WHY. The first thing I got was this sweater coat. This is the Charlize Jacket in the Rustique colour. It’s sold out right now so I’m super glad I got my hands on it when I did. I almost didn’t buy it but I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a boiled wool so it’s super dense and although it’s thin, it keeps me very warm! It also came in a really pretty cream/winter white colour but I knew I would have the hardest time keeping it clean so I took the sensible route and got it in this rusty red colour instead.
The other item I got at Aritzia was this turtleneck. You know when I said Aritzia was expensive? Yeah, I wasn’t lying. This turtleneck was $58. WHY. It’s so thin and small and just not worth $58. So… then why did you buy it, Taylor? Well, it is the perfect turtleneck. For the past couple of years, everytime I try pants or jeans on at Aritzia and need a top to try them on with, I grab this one because it’s such a basic. But yet I never buy it because it’s outrageously overpriced. However, I finally broke down and bought it because it really is perfect. It’s super soft and fits perfectly and it’s just a great layering piece.
