It seems like my San Francisco blog posts are never ending at this point but we aren’t stopping anytime soon. No, I kid, I kid. I believe this is the last of my San Fran posts. I think any Canadian makeup-lover will agree with this, but when I was planning my trip to the states, going to Ulta and Target were definitely at the top of my list. There are just so many makeup brands that we can’t find here in Canada. So, I took the opportunity to pick up a few makeup items that I had my eye on when I was down there on vacation. Here is what I bought in San Francisco!
Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder
I feel like every beauty guru/youtuber/influencer talks about this Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder ($7.99USD). And they don’t just talk about it, they rave about it. So when I saw it at CVS the first night I landed in San Fran, I knew I needed to give it a try. Now, there’s one thing I hate about this powder. The scent. It straight up smells like old lady perfume. And the scent isn’t even subtle. When I use this to bake my concealer under my eyes and around my nose, it makes my eyes water. That’s how strong it is. But I have to admit the powder is great for baking. It’s the perfect pale pink shade that blurs all my pores and helps my makeup last all day long. So I guess I will have to put up with the scent a little bit longer.
Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette & Makeup Revolution Reloaded Palettes
I went a little bit palette crazy when I was in the States. I picked up THREE palettes which was probably three too many. But how could I resist?! They’re all so pretty. The first is the Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette ($16USD) that is filled with the prettiest reds and oranges and yellows. It’s a Taylor palette for sure. Check out the full review on it here. The other two palettes I got were both from Makeup Revolution. They are part of the reloaded ($7USD) collection and one is purely filled with pinks and taupes while the other is more unique with oranges and purples and greens. Both palettes have been super fun to play around with! Check out the full review on them here.
Kristin Ess Signature Shampoo & Dry Shampoo
I have SUCH a girl crush on Kristin Ess. I reviewed her hair care line when it first came to Canada and started being sold on well.ca (check out the blog post here) and I fell in love with everything I tried. When I went to Target to check out the entire line, I wanted to buy EVERYTHING. But alas, I had only brought a carry-on suitcase with me so I had to abide by the liquids rule and couldn’t bring back anything over 100 mL. So, I just picked up her minis of the Signature Shampoo and the Style Reviving Dry Shampoo ($4.99USD). I am such a huge fan of the Signature Shampoo. It smells absolutely amazing (Kristin Ess is actually launching a whole perfume with this scent because it is that good) and it cleanses my scalp nicely while also giving my hair some nice volume as well as smoothing it! But as for the Dry Shampoo, I was super sad because when I got back to Canada and tried to use it, the aerosol won’t work. The pump seems to be jammed or something? I will try to contact customer service to get it sorted because I can’t even return it at Target as I’m back in Canada. Sad. Very sad.
Kylie Bronzer and Tarte Shape Tape
Can you believe that this Kylie Bronzer ($18USD) is my very first product from Kylie Cosmetics? I love me some Kylie Jenner but shipping and duties/customs are so damn expensive for Canada so I had to be very patient and wait until I stepped foot inside an Ulta to try out some of her makeup. I actually haven’t tried this bronzer (shocking, I know) yet but I remember hearing Kylie Jenner talk about this specific shade, Tequila Tan, in a Youtube video she recently put up. So hopefully it goes nicely with my skintone. I will keep y’all posted. The other thing I picked up was the infamous Tarte Shape Tape. Now, it is a good concealer but I wasn’t blown away with it. I don’t notice anything special with my face when I wear it. Maybe my expectations were just too high.
I think I bought more makeup in San Francisco than I have in the past three years. That was so much stuff. But it was also fun to just buy makeup because I wanted to try it and not because I had to review it on ze blog. And yet, here I am, reviewing it on ze blog. Funny how that works.
