In my last outfit post, I talked about the fact that I hate winter in November. But guess what? It’s officially December. And you know what that means? Christmas. Music, lights, skating, hot chocolate, all the baking and sugar my stomach can handle, a week off work, ski trips, presents spending time with family and friends (and Oaks of course). Honestly, what’s not to love? My heart skips a beat just thinking about it. And because of all that Christmas magic headed my way in 20 days, I don’t even mind the snow. I’m not even just tolerating it at this point. I think…. I think I like it. You know I won’t be saying that in January (or February, or March… or April) so we better enjoy it while I can.
Every holiday season I have a whole bucket list of Christmas-y things I want to do with my time off. There’s ice skating, gingerbread house decorating, Candy Cane lane, sledding, pictures with Santa, etc. Just so many fun things. And usually, I find the time to do all of these things and more every single year. But this year is going to be different. I want a chill December. I’m a single gal this Christmas and it’s been a while since I was single during the holidays. But surprisingly, I’m not upset about it (read this post for some insight into that). I actually find it refreshing. I can just concentrate on my friends and family (and yes, Oakley) this Christmas and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Who needs boys anyways.
Okay let’s get to the real reason y’all are here. My outfit. Unless you guys are actually here for my random rambling thoughts (which I hope is the actual reason). But anyways, my outfit. I really like my outfit today. You probably think I say that about all of my outfits but it’s always a hit or miss what combination of clothing I decide to throw on. But this one is definitely a hit in my books. It’s centered around these Zara suede over the knee boots. I honestly forgot about these boots the second over the knee boots went out of style last year (or the year before, I can’t remember). But, I pulled them out of my closet one day and I was determined to make them work again.
And oh boy, did I ever. I tucked a pair of skinny jeans into them (I’m also a little bitter that skinny jeans are out of style now) and threw on this white turtleneck from Uniqlo. Uniqlo has finally come to Edmonton and I couldn’t be more excited. I was actually invited to their store opening for ze blog but I had too busy of a day to attend. But nonetheless, I am a huge fan of Uniqlo and an even bigger fan of these turtlenecks. These are called the 1*1 RIBBED COTTON TURTLENECK LONG SLEEVE T-SHIRT (oof, that’s a name) and they are quite possibly the best turtlenecks ever. They are made of a super thick, good quality cotton so they’re not see through in the slightest, meaning I can wear even a white one and you can’t see my bra underneath (this is a very common problem for me). They have a high neck that you can wear either folded down or, my favorite way, worn up to your chin. And did I mention they are only $14.90CAD? A STEAL!
Overtop of my turtleneck, I am wearing my Aritzia Reeves Wool Coat. I love this coat but there’s just one problem. You know when you shell out a pretty penny for something and then it goes on sale a month later and you spend the rest of your life thinking about how much money you could have saved if you had of just waited to buy it? Because that’s how I feel right now. It went on sale for half price during Aritzia’s Black Friday sale. I could have saved $150. But as my mom says, you can’t think about it that way because if you had of waited, who knows if it would have sold out before it went on sale. Sometimes you just gotta risk it for the biscuits and buy something you love at full price.
