I was starting to think it was spring. I really was. And then, one day, I woke up and it was a winter wonderland (or more accurately, horrorland). My birthday is just over a week away and like every other year, the weather has turned gross again just in time for me to turn 25. Oh well, I am already preparing myself that turning twenty-five is going to be my quarter-life crisis so I might as well accept the fact that the weather will head in that direction as well.
However, there is one thing that isn’t going to change when I turn twenty-five and that is my love of mustard yellow. Every year I tell myself that I am going to limit the amount of mustard yellow clothing items I buy and yet, everytime I see something in yellow I buy it immediately instead of opting to buy it in a different colour. I wanted to slowly phase yellow out of my closet but we all know that is not going to happen anytime soon. Same goes with cheetah print. I still wear an obscene amount of mustard yellow and cheetah print combinations in my outfits. Maybe I will stop when I turn 30. Maybe.
So, in classic Taylor fashion, we (I) are wearing both mustard yellow and cheetah print in this outfit today. Surprise, surprise. This is the Reeves coat from Aritzia in the cairo gold colour. It’s a mix of wool and cashmere so even though it doesn’t look particular thick or long, it’s surprisingly warm. And it’s mustard yellow. That’s really the best thing about it if we’re being honest. Underneath the coat, I am wearing one of my favorite cheetah print tops. I picked this up at a Zara semi-annual clearance sale a couple years back for only $3.99. I can confidently say it was the best four dollars I’ve ever spent.
For the rest of my outfit I kept it simple with distressed dark grey jeans from Citizens of Humanity (Rockets style) and my tried and true black leather boots from Frank and Oak. To add just a lil bit of something extra (because I like to be extra), I wore these funky statement earrings that I just picked up from Oak and Fort. They are a cute geometric marbled stone design. That’s another bandwagon I haven’t quite hopped off yet. Statement earrings. For as long as I love cheetah print and mustard yellow I will love statement earrings. I ain’t mad about it.
