Whenever I’m stressed, I shop. I’m sure that’s no surprise to the majority of you. Whether I had a big exam coming up or a particularly hard day at work, my first impulse would be to open up my laptop and start online shopping. My mom always used to joke that she would automatically know I was stressed when a bunch of packages started arriving at the door. But man, if I thought I was stressed before, I don’t even know how to describe the level of panic I feel now. And I’m sure a large percentage of you reading this feel the same. So, I did what I do best and ordered a ton of online orders from all of my favorite stores. My wallet isn’t happy but hey, the distraction from this pandemic was well worth the money spent.

I was browsing the Tarte website and stumbled across a blush palette set that I had been wanting for a long time. However, when I went to add it to cart, I noticed I was a few dollars short for free shipping. And you know ya girl can’t pay for shipping. So when deciding what else to buy to hit the free shipping threshold, I realized Tarte had a new member in their Shape Tape family: the Shape Tape Glow Wand (mini: $10USD/$13CAD, full size: $25USD/$33CAD). It was described as an instant eye lift in a bottle. And because it was available in a mini size, I thought I might as well give it a try! At first glance, it was a little confusing to decipher if it was a highlighter or a concealer but after trying it out, I realized it really is both! It’s a liquid brightener with micro-fine diamond pigments to diffuse light, giving it a blurred, soft-focus finish. Because of these micro-fine diamond pigments, it doesn’t come off as glittery or shimmery. It’s simply just brightening.

As far as it’s concealer properties go, you can wear the Glow Wand concealer with or without the Shape Tape concealer. It’s definitely not as full coverage as the original concealer but it provides a light, natural coverage. So, on my lighter makeup days (AKA everyday in social isolation), I wear just the Glow Wand on my undereyes, but when I am doing more of a glam look, I will apply the original Shape Tape concealer under my eyes and then use the Glow Wand to highlight underneath my eyes, on top of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my cupid’s bow. It’s that perfect product to give you that dewiness we all crave but doesn’t look like you applied a shimmery bright highlighter to your face. In other words, it’s quarantine-chic.

I wear the Tarte Shape Tape concealer in 12N Fair Neutral and the Glow Wand concealer in shade Alight.
