  • My Favorite Quarantine Beauty Essentials

quarantine beauty essentials for self care

Isn’t it crazy to think about how back in March, we all thought this pandemic would be long gone by now? But now it’s August and the virus seems (read: is) worse than ever. At the start of quarantine, I went ham buying all the self care beauty products seeing as I was suddenly spending a lot more time at home. And honestly, thank God I did. Because I am getting so much use out of each and every one of them. And so, seeing as this pandemic isn’t even close to being over, I thought I would share some of my favorite quarantine beauty products with you!

    Face Masks

I honestly don’t think I have ever used as many face masks in my entire life as I have in quarantine. For a while there, it seemed like I was applying a different face mask every second night. And although it didn’t necessarily make my skin and acne any better, it sure helped to relax me. That’s all that really matters, right? These are the 7th Heaven Easy Peel-Off Masks ($5.99CAD) in metallic colours. I can’t even remember the last time I had used a peel-off face mask before these but damn! They are so much fun and so satisfying when you get to peel them off. My goal is always to peel them off in one continuous peel. I’ve never succeeded but it’s not a bad goal to have, right? The gold mask is great for detoxing and brightening the skin with jojoba oil, soothing jasmine, mango and detoxifying malachite while the rose gold mask balances and nourishes your skin with the help of rose, white tea and moonstone.

    Dry Shampoo

    COLAB volume extreme dry shampoo

Would it really be any kind of beauty essentials post without featuring some sort of dry shampoo? Dry shampoo has truly been my saviour during these quarantining times. It’s great for when you roll out of bed at 7:45 and you realize you have a Zoom meeting at 8 am. A couple sprays of this throughout your roots and not a soul can tell that you haven’t washed your hair in days. Thank goodness for bad quality webcams. This is the COLAB Volume Extreme Dry Shampoo ($9.99CAD) and it’s one of my all time favorites. It instantly soaks up any and all oil and refreshes your roots for that freshly washed look. And it’s a transparent powder so you don’t have to worry about any white residue. Plus, it smells DELICIOUS. It’s a great product all around.

    Hand Cream

bubble t hibiscus and acai berry tea hand cream

I don’t think there’s a soul reading this right now that can tell me their hands aren’t feeling incredibly dry right now. But that is just a small price to pay for germ free hands and Covid-free health (and on that note, wear your freakin’ masks, people)! I never used to be a hand cream type of gal before this pandemic but let me tell you, I rely on a good hand cream these days. This Bubble T Hibiscus & Açai Berry Tea Restoring Hand Cream ($5.99CAD) contains goji berry extract, sweet orange essential oil and shea butter so not only does it smell absolutely amazing (it really gets rid of that tequila hand sanitizer scent that has a tendency to linger) but it also deeply moisturizes my hands.

    Antiperspirant

I don’t know what it is about working from home but I find I’ve been sweating more than ever. Is that weird? Yes. It’s probably just from the sadness of not seeing my coworkers everyday. That’s a probable explanation, right? This Perspirex Comfort Roll-On Antiperspirant ($17.99CAD) is the most heavy-duty deodorant I have ever tried. If you’re finding that nothing else is working for you, this is what you have to try! Apply it once, at night, and it provides long-lasting protection for 2-3 days! The new and gentler formula ensures comfort to your skin and minimises the irritation, burning and itchiness that is sometimes associated with hardcore antiperspirants.

You can find all of these products online at Farleyco or in-store at your local Shoppers Drug Mart or London Drugs.
