  • A Lot of Ground To Cover

Now, before you get too excited that there’s still no snow on the ground and it’s mid November, please keep in mind that these photos were taken at the beginning of November. On November 2, I looked at the weather forecast and saw the inevitable downpouring of snow scheduled for the next two weeks. And so, being the prepared fashion blogger I am (sarcasm), I pre-filmed some content so that I would haven’t to freeze my lil’ butt off when the snow did eventually come. And I’m so glad I did because Edmonton got 30 cm (12 inches for you Americans) of snow this weekend. Yes, you read that right. The city was really making up for the snowless October. But, let’s just try to ignore all the snow outside right now and focus on these photos which still feature a beautiful Autumn day in Edmonton.

There’s a lot of ground I want to cover in today’s blog post but let’s start with this top. For a while now, I’ve been realizing there really is an absence of tops in my wardrobe. I have a lot of coats, I have a lot of blazers, I have a lot of sweaters, I have a decent amount of pants, but what I don’t have is an abundance of blouses. I have a hard time finding tops I like. They have to have a good fit, a good colour, a good pattern, and they have to be comfy. There is nothing I hate more than a structured blouse that doesn’t allow my arms to move freely, without restriction. And you would think this criteria wouldn’t result in me struggling to find tops but it does. It really does. I found this top at Aritzia and I was instantly drawn to it (like I am to everything at Aritzia). It’s called the Babaton Campbell Blouse. It features a mock neck with a keyhole cutout at the back and a slight gathering at the shoulders. It runs slightly cropped and isn’t lined so it’s a very lightweight shell- perfect for layering under coats and blazers which was exactly what I needed in my wardrobe. But what attracted me most to this top was the vintage-inspired geometric print (but it’s also available in solid white or grey shade if you’re not a prints kind of gal). I just love the colours and pattern. It’s so pretty.

The next thing I want to talk about is Poshmark. I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to talk about Poshmark. For those of you who don’t know, Poshmark is a social commerce marketplace and app where people in the can buy and sell new or used clothing, shoes, and accessories. It’s such an easy app to use and the perfect way for me to sell the hoards of items I’ve been accumulating. All you have to do is take pictures of the items, list them on the app and then, when people buy your stuff, Poshmark sends you a prepaid shipping label and you can just pack up the item and ship it off! Easy peasy! If this sounds like the best thing ever, use code WHENIMOLDER when you sign up for $15 off your first purchase on Poshmark! And be sure to check out my Poshmark closet!

But the reason I’m bringing up Poshmark is because I used my $15 credit to buy these jeans off of the app! I have been on the hunt for Citizens of Humanity dark wash skinny jeans. Now, they’re definitely not the most exciting purchase, but they were definitely something I needed, especially when I’m back in the office and need jeans for casual Fridays. I wanted a pair of jeans that were very plain, without any distressing and dark wash to wear with blazers and blouses (like this one). This pair couldn’t have been more perfect. They were only worn once, in excellent condition and I got them for such a bargain! I think I only paid $40 for them, shipping included! Yes, I love Poshmark. I’m also now a Poshmark Ambassador so you can see how much my obsession for them has really blossomed.

To complete this outfit, I’m wearing my Club Monaco Daylina coat (that yes, I do have in three colours) and my Marc Fisher Yale booties (which I wished I had in three colours). This is my ride or die combo. No matter how long they are out of style for or outdated, I will always go back to them. True love never dies, y’all. You can never go wrong with a classic long wool coat and pointed toe booties. Unless it’s -40°C and a blizzard outside. Then you can, and did, go wrong.
