One of the reasons my blog is called When I’m Older is because it documents this whole journey we call life. Wow, that was unbelievably cheesy. I feel like this is the start of a heartfelt coming-of-age film but alas, this post is about skincare and not my growth from a young gal, age 17, just starting her blog to a flourishing 25 year-old who is still writing away. Right. Skincare. Yes. So, I have been dabbling more and more in the organic, cruelty-free, pure, clean, vegan, natural, eco-conscious world of skincare and I’ve been loving it. I have been finding so many fabulous products that just work so much better for my skin.

PUUR Ingrid (PUUR meaning Pure in Dutch and Ingrid being the founder’s name) is one of those organic, cruelty-free, pure, clean, vegan, natural, eco-conscious companies and commits to using the finest healthy and clean ingredients. Every product is completely free of chemicals and harmful toxins. They manufacture their natural skincare in small batches in their Calgary laboratory (we love a local company!) and don’t outsource any of the manufacturing so the quality is always consistent. And they are certified by CertClean – North America’s leading certification for safer skincare!

One thing that is sometimes a hit or miss with smaller, natural skincare brands is the packaging. You often miss out on that luxury aspect. The packaging tends to be designed with effectiveness and practicality in mind, but it’s not always the prettiest thing. There’s so many clean skincare brands that I absolutely love but, to put it simply, their packaging is just not display worthy. Well, that’s not the case with PUUR Ingrid. Their packaging is quite aesthetically pleasing. All of their products are housed in high quality (and sustainable!) glass bottles with varying shades of dusty rose, gold and greige (beige x grey) labels. That’s practically my dream wedding cololur palette right there. So dreamy and feminine.

But, we’re not here to talk about packaging. It’s what’s on the inside that counts and that’s the effectiveness of the skincare. We have three products to discuss today: the Triple Treat Tonic, the Facial Radiance and the Squalane Absolute. Which to talk about first? That’s the real question. Let’s discuss the Triple Treat Tonic ($18.95CAD) first as it’s a category I don’t review often on the blog. It’s a hair detangler that not only aims to detangle the hair (obviously), but also de-frizz and deep condition. My fine strands don’t tend to tangle too easily so i don’t reach for this for it’s detangling properties but I do love it’s other benefits. The blend of essential oils, aloe juice and special ingredient, Glossyliance®, an innovative plant-derived extract and the ultimate active shine ingredient, helps to soothe hair without weighing it down. In addition, the aloe juice smooths and seals in moisture while the essential oils promote a healthy scalp and leave your hair smelling heavenly. And when I say heavenly, I mean heavenly. You will smell like you just squeezed a fresh orange on your hair. Who doesn’t love that?

Next is the Facial Radiance oil ($34.95CAD) that strives to brighten and renew the skin. This oil is fantastic for dull and aging skin. Evening Primrose oil moisturizes and enhances skin elasticity while Vitamin C helps your skin naturally regenerate and repair damaged skin cells. You know I love anything with Vitamin C in it. In addition, plant-derived Squalane penetrates deep into your pores to promote collagen production, leaving your face feeling luxurious and radiant. I love to apply this both morning and night and it’s really helping with how dry my skin is right now in the midst of a typical Albertan winter. I can’t stress how important adding an oil in your skincare routine is. It really makes all the difference.

The last product is the Squalane Absolute ($24.95CAD) which is probably the product I’m most excited about. I know, we’re always saving the best for last. This is one of those oils that can be used for everything. It’s truly a multitasking, multipurpose oil. It’s ideal for all skin types and can be used on the face, body and hair. This 100% plant-sugar derived Squalane penetrates deep into your pores to stimulate the synthesis of collagen and provide a deep level of moisturization. It is so effective at hydrating and plumping your skin. Squalane is one of those ingredients that you might not have heard of but once you start using it, you see it everything and begin to love it. Remember how we all felt about hyaluronic acid a couple of years ago? Squalane is that new magic ingredient. And my skin absolutely loves it.
